The Haymarket has been renovated in the past few years and really become a downtown hub. You can find things to do, places to eat, and things to see. Some noteable places in the area are: Ivanna Cone (and that whole building, they have a nifty bookstore, too!); a great farmer's market; some cool murals and trains; The Mill, with some great coffee; an olive oil store that lets you sample the goods; and, a licorice store that is thoroughly Nebraskan. I think there might also be an ice skating rink in the winter. In the summer there's also a sweet motorcycle convention that rolls through....
Read moreWe had an hour to kill between checking out of the hotel and heading over to the Capitol building for a tour (which I highly recommend ~ it's such a beautiful building and the tour guide was awesome), so we stopped at this lovely little spot to spend some time. I'm so glad we did. It doesn't take long to see, but what we did see was very intriguing. And if you're hungry and/or want to do a little shopping, it looks as if there are some very nice places...

But it was enjoyable with all kinds of booths - Arts & Crafts, Food, and Fresh Produce. The Lincoln Visitor Center is also located here. A variety of restaurants and shops can be visited on a leisurely stroll. Note that the parking meters need to be fed...
