I believe I can offer a unique perspective. Even though I have watched NUMEROUS shows at this facility, I have performed at this venue multiple times as well. The backstage dressing rooms are fantastic-- they are equipped with mirrors, sinks, restrooms, etc. There's even a green room! Regarding the stage, it is not huge, but certainly a good size, especially from the audience's perspective.
From the audience's perspective, most of the productions are wonderful. Great sound quality, acoustics, lighting, effects, and talent! The ushers are kind and courteous. There are pillows to borrow (free of charge) when viewing the performance. There is also an observation room at the back of the theatre. Concessions are sold, and usually some sort of "keepsake" boutique item is sold as well. There is a coat/bag check-in (optional) as well. Often times, there is a discount code for tickets that can grant you up to 50% off, without being a Season Pass holder-- and yes, you can purchase individual tickets. :)
I highly recommend the Lied Center if you are a prospective ticket buyer! Trust me, you will not regret your decision.
Going to see Phantom of The Opera with one of my childhood best friends this weekend, and could not be more excited! Hope to see you there. Note: This review is neither sponsored, nor endorsed by the Lied Center for Performing Arts of...
Read moreMade my first trip to the Lied center to see Phantom yesterday, and neither the show nor the facility disappointed.
As others mentioned, the central location is ideal for dining before or after the show, and offers ample parking at reasonable rates ($5 for event parking at a nearby garage).
The seats we had afforded us an excellent view of the stage (and the chandelier... great set piece). The sound was incredible, and I can't say enough how nice it was to have so much leg room! It is definitely not like being crammed into the tight rows of the Orpheum theater in Omaha or other older theater houses. The seats were incredibly comfortable.
I was surprised they allowed drinks and snacks (oh, the smell of those roasted cashews was delightful) back into the theater after intermission, but it was a happy surprise to be able to sip hot coffee during the final act.
The show is deserving of its own 5-star review, but a lot of its success has to be derived from the site of the performance, and in this regard the Lied center shined as a brilliant co-star. I look forward to going back for more performances later...
Read moreTook my daughter to The Little Mermaid last night for the opening show. During intermission we waited in line for the bathroom to go in and find out that “the toilets don’t flush so either hold it and move on or pee!” Yep!! You read that correctly! They continued to use an entire bathroom making patrons pee in nearly overflowing toilets filled with other peoples urine!! The fact that the workers continued to get frustrated as everyone who was standing there in disbelief and trying to decide if they would risk allowing their daughters to pee in this kind of environment is unreal! They told us “we know they aren’t working and they haven’t been since the water main break a month ago.” So let me get this right, you have known about this for a month and considering the donor board you have you didn’t get it fixed or at the very least you didn’t CLOSE the bathroom?? The health code violation associated with this alone should have made them close the bathroom down! These are porta potties but actual toilets at the Lied! Everyone that was forced to deal with this disgustingness should be...
