Here's the deal with the Kindler. It's super nice. But in all of its aesthetic grandeur, they sacrificed one huge principle: Bathrooms should be **private**. I'm sorry, but some things should remain private between just you and God, you know?? In this hotel, there is a shocking 1+" gap between the bathroom doors and the door opening. Basically, the bathroom door does not close. So, there you are in Grandma's room saying goodnight after a long evening at the buffet and she's like "excuse me for a moment, dear." And so there you are in the room and maybe you're standing in that exact spot, literally nothing between you both, and you glance over not expecting the worst--but good God, you make direct eye contact with grandma just as the buffet takes its revenge on her poor aged system. Suddenly your entire childhood changes in one horrific moment and you'll never be able to regard your grandmother in the same way every again. Your entire relationship with what you once regarded as your sweet grandmother has been stolen by an architect who broke the time-honored tradition of bathrooms and privacy. And from there, things with grandma are never the same. At best, what happened is simply not discussed. But the shame manifests in weird, unpredictable ways and in time she starts favoring the other grandchildren more. You eventually become estranged and finally, in the end, she cuts you out of her will entirely. All that money she had, which ironically allowed her to afford a room at the Kindler, now goes to all of the others, to those who did not witness "the event." They don't share, either. They also slowly cut you out of their lives, assuming that if sweet dear of grandma didn't love you, then there must be something truly awful about you. So you grow old and bitter and alone, thanks to the architect of the Kindler hotel.

Booked a two night stay for a business trip with my wife. Arrived late, checked in and immediately attended an event, utilized the hotel bar, and went to sleep without being in the room with lights on for less than an hour. Night two we return to the hotel in between scheduled events and observed 2 cockroaches within a 30 minute period both of varying sizes/stages of life. We had no time to address the situation due to prior commitments that night. Upon our return went directly to sleep thinking it may have been an isolated incident. The morning of check out I left early for business and my wife stayed for check out and to pack. Within the two hours she spent awake she found numerous additional roaches. My wife a immigrant to this country attempted to address the situation with the staff and felt that it was not taken seriously, the staff member refused to review images and videos she had taken of the insects, did not retrieve a manager, and simply took a hand written note of the incident. The staff member seemed unfazed by it and left the feeling that it was common knowledge that there was a problem. I was forced to call the hotel and speak to a manager who had never received the note, the manager requested i submit the images and videos to the hotel email. Before I even submitted the email they refunded me 50% implying that again they knew prior that it had been an issue. The refund for less than 200 dollars is a slap in the face as I frequent the hotel multiple times a year and commonly spend more than that at the hotel bar alone on any given night.

This might be the most pleasant stay at a hotel we have every experienced. We came into Lincoln with our 6 and 1 yr old for a quick 1 night stay, and there was a mistake on the hotels part with the booking. We wanted 2 beds in 1 room, but the room that was reserved only had 1. At no extra cost they gave us 2 rooms that were connected, each had 1 bed. When we went to our room(s), we quickly noticed that the 2 rooms they gave us were not connected, and thus we would have to move again. To most people they would probably be frustrated and deservedly so.

These things happen, and they were very reactive and were taking care of the issue. The real reason for the 5 star was for what happened after this.

So as I stated before, we had our 2 kids with us. While we were waiting for our new room our 6 yr old hit his head on a small table in the room, and of course split his forehead open. So here we are with our son bleeding from his head in a new hotel with white carpet. Luckily my wife is a PA and myself an Army Medic and we were able to react quickly enough that not a single drop of blood made it onto the carpet and scooped him into the bathroom. We immediately knew a simple band-aid would not stop this, and we needed to get it closed.

Knock Knock Knock, the hotel staff is at our door letting us know we are ready to move rooms....perfect timing of course. We informed them of the situation, and they quickly helped move all of our stuff to the new room while we hold pressure on our sons head to help control the bleeding. It was just about 6pm, so urgent cares were closing. We decided that I would try and go to a CVS or Walgreens and see if I could find some steri strips or possibly even some sutures as my wife would be able to close it herself, and we did not want to pay to go to the ER. As we are discussing this, I think the hotel manager, she stated that she could drive to her house and get her collection of the things we were talking about and bring it to us. It was an unbelievable offer from her that we quickly accepted.

So she left and came back with the supplies and we were able to close up the wound and all was good.

The next day my wife ran the lincoln half marathon, and we decided to eat afterwards. I called the hotel to see if we could pay for a late checkout. They stated no we could not pay for it, but....we could check out late for free.

The amount of just friendly personable behavior was 10 out of 5 stars. It is not really a family hotel, but our family truly enjoyed our stay. We have told this story to many friends, and we highly recommend staying there.

Thank you Kindler Staff for just being good people. No one was stuck up or irritated at the situation. There were problems, and you all helped solve them without hesitation....

Hold on, this may be a long one.

"Not my problem" is what I was told by one of the "owners" after not one, not two, but 3 reservations were lost to the ether of their booking system. Let's start at the beginning. A group of us from Chicago (re: out of state) traveled to Lincoln for a wedding. We booked 7 rooms, with 6 of the 7 being a one night only and the 7th as a two nighter. We all received confirmations and assumed everything was good for our arrival. The two night reservation was the first to arrive and when attempting check in, they were told there wasn't a reservation in that name... or any of the other names in our group.

Fast forward 2 hours... many phone calls and text messages were exchanged between our group and their Director of Sales to get this sorted out.

We settled on an extreme discount for the rooms with a food and bev comp for the colossal mess up on their end (remember, none of this was our fault, this will come in handy later) minus 3 rooms. Fine. We're all adults, we can share. But also. There was literally nowhere else for us to go because the hotels that were convenient for the wedding were completely booked.

The day of the wedding arrives and we check in to the rest of our rooms, get ready, have a fantastic time at the reception then come back to the hotel lobby for a nightcap. This is when we encountered said "owner" caught without his hospitality pants.

When inquiring about the food and bev comp, the "owner" told me that he wasn't aware of the situation and after explaining everything that happened with our group, he completely shut me down and dismissed me as if this wasn't some sort of problem. If anything, I should be grateful they let us stay at their hotel. Now. As someone who's worked in customer service for 10+ years, I'm pretty sure the textbook response is to apologize and say you're sorry, regardless of whether or not it was truly your fault. I like to refer to this as "big empathy". At the end of the day, both parties should leave the interaction feeling like they both won in some capacity. Mr. Owner clearly doesn't give two flying anythings about the guests he has coming in and out of his hotel and I'm not going to make an assumption that even half of his staff acts or feels this way. In reality, he does have some lovely people working for him. What I do know is that the precedent is set at the top and if he wants to maintain a certain image for himself and his hotel, he may want to reconsider the way he treats his guests.

So to summarize: I would only recommend staying here if you want to give your money to a jerk that doesn't appreciate his guests or if you want to take a gamble on their reservation system.

...or if you hate water pressure. The water pressure sucks so good luck...

Finally! A great upscale hotel in Lincoln!! What the city has been needing for a long time. When they came in and built this hotel, the owners definitely did it right and it shows. I have personally stayed at every hotel in downtown Lincoln and if you're looking for luxury, I suggest you book here.

Pros: The aesthetics are beautiful and the hotel is extremely clean Staff is incredibly friendly and always available The rooms are large, open and spacious Bathroom floor is heated (my favorite) The TVs in the rooms are huge There's a small mini kitchen with both microwave, fridge and sink The bed is AMAZING Large open shower and the products they provide are great quality Light up vanity mirror in the bathroom (another personal favorite) Robes in the closet Lights automatically turn off to save energy and there's a master switch by the door

Cons: Parking! Not their fault but they are on a one-way so you have to go all the way around the block every single time. You are going to be paying for parking regardless if you decide to valet or self park in the garage. If you self park, getting to the skywalk from the garage into the hotel can be a bit confusing until you get it down and figured out exactly where you need to be. I can only imagine the nightmare this will be on a busy football weekend. Even for valet, there are only a few small spots you can pull up into, making it difficult on a busy weekend as well. Amenities.... No in-room dining. There's a small bar downstairs with a couple bites but nowhere to really grab quick snacks either like what the chain hotels have. They were able to bring up a snack basket but it was very basic and not reflective of the hotel's upscale theme or clientele. It could be significantly improved. The gym has nice equipment but is VERY tiny. Should probably be twice the size that it is. Also could use a few more bathroom amenities -- they had qtips and cotton balls but not the standard vanity package you see in most hotels. I would vamp it up a bit if I were them to reflect the "luxury" feel they are trying to execute. The main room entry door has no resistance or stopper on the back, so if you're not careful or aren't paying attention, it'll swing all the way open and slam against the granite on the counter that's on the other side within the room.

Overall, comfort and feel is great. It is currently the nicest hotel in Lincoln. I gave them 4 stars for the sole purpose of the slight improvements that could be made, but once they fine tune these areas, there will be no one that...
