Usually I’m happy with any Granite City but the one in Lincoln, NE completely dropped the ball tonight.
First off we were told there was a 15-25 minute wait, which in all realty that’s not a problem. We got in the cue and they took our phone number which we gave them twice to confirm, and they said they would text us when our table was ready.
35 minutes went by and so we started walking back, the lady at the front counter said they texted us, but they had the wrong number. So as we were waiting to be sat the hostess said she would double check our table and instead of helping us immediately since they messed up our reservation, she was standing there talking and hugging another patron. She finally came over and made the other girl take us to our table after I gave her a look.
We were on our way to our table and another server cut me off from my party as I was being seated and she just looked at me with disgust. I told her “excuse me” and she said “yes, please watch out”. I was appalled.
Finally we got seated and the waiter took our drink order and our appetizer order (which was awful, never get the Irish Nachos as they just slop stuff together and microwave it. Parts were hot, parts were cold). He came back and asked for our order and we told him just one minute, he came back 15 minutes later.
After being seated for 30 minutes we finally got to order. We ate our crappy appetizer and waited for our food with empty drinks. After a table runner brought out our food we were able to get our drinks refilled. Wasn’t until the end of our plates that we were addressed by our waiter on our food or drinks. He was busy chatting with his counterpart in his section and cleaning his area.
We finally got our check, and not once got a sorry from any of the staff. Last time I will step foot into that building. Extremely...
Read moreWe were very excited to try Granite City as it came highly recommended to us by friends. We ate there on a Tuesday night - it was not busy at all. We were seated at a table that still had crumbs on it and needed to be wiped off. The drink and food menus were filthy - covered in food/stains and were sticky. Our waitress was nice and wiped off the table - then she informed us that they had no C02 - so they could not serve beer or soda.... we should have left at that point. If you are a brewery and you cannot serve beer, you need to just close for the night. My mom ordered a Grey Goose with olives - when she got it, it was not very cold and the waitress said they were out of olives... OMG. We all ordered burgers, cooked medium. The food came hot, and was pretty good except all the burgers were cooked medium well. At this point we had waited quite a while for our food and drinks and didn't want to risk sending it back. Again - not busy but we waited quite a while for a waitress to notice we were done eating. When she came back my dad handed her his credit card and told her to run it. She ran it and dropped of the receipt - it was then we noticed she had rung our card for a completely different table. Nothing on the bill was what we ordered. It took forever to find someone who could help us with this - no one who was working there appeared over 30 years old and they seemed at a loss as to how to fix this. We were finally told that the bill we paid was $10 less than our actual bill - so we should just leave it as it is. Overall, it was a very frustrating experience. Food was ok - wish we could have tried the beers - but we will not...
Read moreRun away. Especially if you think making a reservation might get you a table or any customer service. Had a reservation for 12 made a week in advance and followed up on it the day before our gathering. We were told it was no problem. My party waited over an hour past the reservation time in a crowded noisy foyer. It’s understandable that sometimes things get backed up, but for 45 minutes they told us that the party before us was just settling their bills leading us to believe we didn’t need a plan B. They wouldn’t give us a sense of how long it would be so we could go elsewhere if it was going to be longer. They just kept telling us that the people we finishing up…for 45 minutes. After a quarter of the people in our party left after waiting so long, they still couldn’t get 8 of us seated. They said the people had been there over 3 hours even though their reservation terms limited the seating to 2 hours. When we told them we were going to leave, not a sorry, not an offer of vouchers, nothing to make it right—just an okay, see ya. I get that they were having a rough night, but they did nothing to accommodate nor were they especially kind or apologetic. There are better places that have better food and miles better treatment of customers. Used to be a favorite brunch location when friends and family visit from out of town. Won’t take the chance on another situation...
