We were sorely disappointed by our experience at Lincoln Diner. Despite the previously noted good reviews and our wish that the town of Lincoln would have another good eatery, we found that this new restaurant, Lincoln Diner, is just not ready for 'prime time' and it missed the mark in several areas.
First, we were basically ignored at the hostess greeting stand. The restaurant did not appear to be busy at the time, and staff was visible and not scurrying around. Despite this, it took 10 minutes of waiting before being greeted by the hostess, without any prior acknowledgement of our wait. We were seated in the less than half-full restaurant and waited another10 minutes before our server, Jackson, came by.
We placed our complete order and Jackson returned with two water glasses and said he would return right back with straws. Spoiler alert: the straws never came. Not that this was a big deal, but it added to the lack of attention to detail and spoke to the level customer service we received.
Second, we waited an inordinately long time for our food. It took 28 minutes from ordering to receive our order of Eggs Benedict and a Cobb salad (over 45 minutes from the time we arrived). Again, the kitchen did not appear to be overwhelmed, and this was after any lunch time rush. The Cobb salad, ordered by my guest is described in the menu as having 'bleu cheese crumbles'. The salad we received did not have any bleu cheese crumbles. When we asked the server, he said, "Oh, you want bleu cheese crumbles with that?"
The server was pleasant and the atmosphere fine. We did enjoy the food which was quite tasty. However, compared to service we have received at other Common Man Diners or just in general, the Lincoln Diner fell considerably far short of even our minimal expectations. I would be afraid to go there hungry and worry that I have to wait this long...
Read moreNew diner in Lincoln. Food was an average at best. Hash seemed like it was from a can and the biscuits and sausage gravy was simply not good. They gravy had big chunks of sausage and was the consistency of pudding, not gravy. The biscuits seemed homemade but were grilled or toasted, something I’ve not experienced before with a biscuit. Definitely not like any southern style sausage gravy and biscuits I’ve ever had. Seemed like a lot of “up charges” as well. We were asked if we wanted our home fries with onions or not, not considering onions in potatoes would cost extra. When the bill arrived we were all charged $.50 for onions in our home fries. lol Seemed a bit petty honestly and was a bit of a turn-off. The service was good and the atmosphere was nice. Since they are new, I might give them a second try after they are up and running for a bit. It was okay for a breakfast, but there was no wow factor at all. I wish...
Read moreWe give grace always and it was clear the person we ordered our takeout was struggling so when it took 2 people & 12 minutes to order our 4 easy meals, we hoped that was the only hiccup for our lunch. Cute location & esthetics but parking lot arrows are clearly wrong… we watched multiple cars do the same thing we did when first entering. Our meals were ready on time.. the chicken & waffles were ok, along with tenders & onion rings. The “fave” Ranchy chic salad wrap was awful. The meat quality was honestly disgusting - chunks of fat & veins - barely any bacon with slimy brown lettuce. I could not finish due to the poor quality & blah taste. HUGE disappointment compared to our experiences with the Tilton Diner. Hope they majorly improve or it’ll be another...
