I cannot recommend this place to anyone. My wife and I were heading out of town and wanted to find somewhere to grab a coffee and a quick bite and had high hopes for this place, which was a let down.
First we checked out their website, which was incomplete and didn't actually list any of their food, drink or coffee options. We have been very cautious of going inside anywhere right now but decided to pop in quickly to put in an order.
I ordered two sandwiches, a coffee, and a chai tea. You have to add your own cream and sugar and I was shocked to find that all of the creamer and milk were in shared containers inside of a small refrigerator. During a time where extreme caution should be taken, this was a major let down. The sugar was also a shared container rather than individual packets or another option that all customers didn't need to touch. They should consider adding this behind the counter got guests, or finding another option.
Next, while waiting for my sandwiches to be made I noticed multiple staff in the kitchen with a mask either pulled down to their neck, or below their nose, making them essentially useless. A few customers also came strolling in without a mask, and staff did not seem to care.
Last, my wife found a long hair in her sandwich. We had already gotten on the highway when we discovered this so I tried to call to at least receive a refund, but no one would answer the phone. I tried calling about ten times. Their voicemail is not set up so I couldn't even...
Read moreI used to enjoy this place frequently and was excited to visit it when coming up to Lincoln. I believe this place is under new ownership now due to the vast difference in service and quality that I experienced today. I had a very strange experience when simply trying to order two sandwiches. When I attempted to order the roast beef, I was interrupted by another employee, who informed the cashier that “he hadn’t sliced any roast beef today”. This employee never directly interacted with me, and instead asked several other employees if they had any roast beef sliced. It struck me as odd that this employee opted to interrupt me and deny my order rather than simply cut some roast beef or take it off the menu. After ordering a chicken + bacon sandwich instead, I was off-put but still hopeful. The cashier fumbled while finishing my order, and I helped her complete the transaction by showing her how to use the debit card reader. Still hoping for the best, I received my sandwich and was immediately aggravated. The “french bread” was crumbling and barely covering the contents of the sandwich. The tomatoes were runny and soggy. The chicken was unseasoned, flavorless, and wet. I spent $12 on a sandwich I could easily make myself. I have been here in the past and have enjoyed it greatly. Today, I feel compelled to write this due to the overall bizarre...
Read moreWow! I'm always on the hunt for a ham and cheese croissant, and The Moon Cafe and Bakery exceeded my expectations. I was staying at RiverWalk and didn't even have to cross the street for breakfast, as it's located in the Villages, which is just the other side of the parking lot. The decor is moon related and adorable. It's very spacious with seating indoors and out.
I ordered an iced Americano with a splash of oatmilk, which was very good. The ham and cheese croissant ranked with the best that I have had, and I've had 1000's all over this country. I'm going to France for the first time in November, and I'll let you know how they compare to Paris. Somehow, without going to pastry school, but with extensive training from previous owners, the owner/baker has mastered the croissant--perfectly laminated layers.
I really want to try a breakfast sandwich, but it will be hard not to order another ham and cheese croissant. Sigh...only so much I can eat in 3 days...
I also enjoyed walking around the Villages and learning about the mill history of the town. I'm from Greenville SC, in the Upstate, in the Blue Ridge part of the Appalachians. Our mills were textile, here it was wood, then, paper. I strolled around town and enjoyed seeing the Mill housing and...
