My husband and I went for lunch on a Friday. We split an order of onion rings; he had the steak sandwich and I had the daily lunch special - the fried catfish. While my husband’s dish was ok, the breading of the catfish and the hush puppies was pretty salty. The coleslaw was decent, but it was a bit watery and a bit too sweet for our liking. The onion rings were nice and hot, but as with all of the fried items, they were over-cooked and hard/very brown. While it was not very crowded, our sever did not check on us once. I was really thirsty due to the saltiness of the food and after attempting to make eye contact with the staff for several minutes I gave up and got my own water that was sitting out. I tried to ask the bar staff if that was ok, but they didn’t even seem to acknowledge my presence. A waiter even walked right by me and refilled someone else’s lemonade, not noticing I was not where I was supposed to be. Not sure if this is how things just are at this restaurant, but we will not...
Read moreI normally am quick to ignore mistakes because, well face it mistakes happen. This time however, this is not a mistake. I ordered a mushroom swiss burger with no lettuce, tomato or onions. It had onions. The server, who was phenomenal quickly took it back for a replacement. At this point, I am ok with the oops. The new burger came out it was good, but when I picked up my pickle spear and take a bite. A strong flavor of onion. Then I notice where the pickle had been lie a onion. A onion about the size of a quarter trimmed neatly to be concealed by a pickle spear. What are the chances of a perfectly shaped onion being accidently covered by the pickle spear? The only reason I gave two stars was because the server did a good job and the food was average. So I decided I was going to take a photo, but the gentleman (not my server) from the kitchen took the dish prior to me snapping the photo. With all that said, I do not think I will return to alley oops nor will I recommend it to my friends...
