I never leave negative reviews like this but Tonight was unacceptable and I won’t be going back. The main issue is that my friend and I were told about 15 minutes after ordering our pizza that it would be another 30 minutes ETA on the pizza and we both decided we still wanted pizza. 30 minutes later however she came by (we continuously had to wave her down. We never got water refills the entire two hours we were there) at the 30 minute mark she says “so there still isn’t an eta on the pizza” the problem is she had already given us an eta and the pizza just never came yall. We waited over an hour at least and were given little to no apologies. No managers came by. No offers to make it right. We had to wave her down and tell her we didn’t want the pizzas anymore and were given a smile and an “it’s out of my control” comment. I promise we were kind and patient and not being angry at all to her but we were truly given no solutions or true apologies. Our friends also had to get their check after 45 minutes waiting for a burger and sandwich and had to take it all to go… they were charged full price and given no apologies. It wasn’t exceptionally busy for a Saturday night and others were getting service and their food. I’m truly just confused and sad it was such an unpleasant experience trying to celebrate our friends birthday. It for sure out a damper on her night and she felt bad none of her friends could eat. Last thing- one of our friends paid with a 20 and our waitress after alllll of the unsatisfactory service, asked us who were sitting near him (he had stepped away from the table where his check was) and she said “did he want change?” What an awkward uncomfortable question. when in doubt you just make change and let the customer decide what to tip. She basically asked US to speak for him if we thought he planned to tip or if she needed to make change. I’ve worked in the service industry and this is just a such an odd thing to say? Food was also mid and the bathroom was out of soap. Again I’m sad to say all of this and I hope lost forty can learn from...
Read moreThis was certainly the best brewery I've ever been to. We visited on a whim while passing through the state and I am so glad that we did so. We found a packed room, and secured pretty much the last two seats available, at the bar. We were greeted very pleasantly immediately, and given water and menus. We were given a respectable amount of time and distance to review the menu after being told people were available to answer questions. (I really appreciate that because it is really frustrating with staff hover over you, forcing you to make a decision before you are ready.) They were cheerful about providing samples to beers we wanted to try, which is always a plus.
We ordered both food and beer and it was great. Since we were seated at the bar, we were able to watch food being made. I found this to be a special treat due to my years of experience cooking and working in restaurants. I was pleasantly surprised to see a very clean work station, despite dozens of meals being prepared while I was there; fantastic teamwork on behalf of the employees working the food area (there were four of them, seamlessly working around each other, wordlessly plating and cooking-it was so nice to witness); fresh produce being chopped to order; generous portion sizes; fast turn around time; and a playful and engaging staff. People making food acknowledged us watching them and checked on us periodically, despite them having no incentive to do so, and while being incredibly busy. The food we got was made rather quickly, was plated beautifully, and was delicious. I never expected such good food from a brewery. I've been to several dozen breweries and nearly all of them use a food truck; I didn't expect a restaurant with my beer!
Overall, it was a pleasing experience in an environment that seemed very safe to the LGBT crowd (gender neutral bathroom signs, some seemingly LGBT staff, and not a single weird look directed towards me and my wife holding hands at the bar,) with great beer, and really great food. Would definitely...
Read moreWe routinely come through LR and usually it is in the dead of night so we have missed out on trying any brewpubs in the area. This past weekend we stopped into Lost Forty despite the sketch construction exit ramp off of I-30 and desolate warehouse area. First, it is dog friendly with a covered outdoor area with fans (it was in the 90's) and our server brought us some water for the fury brat. Not much to look at besides a parking lot, picnic tables and a side yard, but we are not here for the view. Hubster ordered wings with buffalo spice & blue cheese. These were very tasty (gobbled down in record time) and as you can see in the picture thankfully NOT dripping with Frank's hot sauce as it is so common other places. We were surprised to see "boulevard" bread on his tray, but just dip into the blue cheese dip or a side of "Arkansas Dip" that you see on my tray for some yum-yum. I had the Smokeshack cuban and definitely a major step above a regular deli with again that "boulevard" bread (we are now "bread' people??). Everything is better of course with a brew, so here is the deets...We usually do not like our beer made with rice, but due to the heat we went the light route and had 2nd Rodeos. These were light, refreshing and nice upgrade from a PBR. Next round was the Day Drinker Belgian Blonde, which had more complex flavors, but in a radler kind of way...maybe we got a radler and didn't know it? Additionally, there is free parking with room & some decent merch. inside where the AC is blasting. Hubster hates cotton shirts in the south, so we picked up a really nice cycling jersey by Jackroo for him that is breathable. Final verdict is all good on the beer and food front, and would most certainly recommend stopping in if passing through LR because who the hell would want to eat at another BWW when you can catch this little brewery right off I-30? Edit: Have my eye on the Rowdy Waffle Fry Skillet to try for...
