My husband and I visited here twice. I really wanted to like this place. The atmosphere is cool, they have a unique menu, and GF options (I have celiac). Unfortunately the high prices, inconsistent food, and inconsistent service removed this spot from our date night rotation.
The first time we visited, the waitress was friendly and diligent with checking on menu items for my allergy. They were out of at least 2 ingredients/items we tried to order (not the "coming soon" menu, but the active menu). The waitress was up front about what they were out of. The food was pricey. I got tacos. One of the tacos I ordered was delicious (the grilled shrimp taco) and was the main reason we gave this place a second try. The other taco tasted strange (they subbed an ingredient). My husband said his bowl wasn't great. We waited 25ish min for our food. We paid about $50 - I got 2 tacos and my husband got a bowl, no drinks. For us, pretty pricey for a casual dinner.
We decided to try again. Unfortunately our second visit was quite a bummer. They were out of several items on their active menu this time. When my husband asked for coffee, the waitress abruptly told him they didn't have any, then corrected and said they didn't have any brewed, then asked if he wanted her to brew some - not in a solicitous way, but in a "do you really want me to go to that trouble" way. My husband declined. I ordered the same tacos I ordered last time. I shared my gluten allergy with the waitress and ordered items marked GF on the menu. The waitress was kind and didn't make me feel bad about my allergy, and said she'd let the cook know. The wait for food was about 15 minutes. When our food arrived, the corn tortillas were different than what we received at our last visit, and so soggy they were breaking apart when we were trying to eat them. A lot of places will serve 2 corn tortillas per taco to prevent this - these had one thin tortilla per taco. My tacos were both missing their sauces. Normally I wouldn't worry about it, but for $8 a taco, and since I'd been craving that cilantro sauce for a couple weeks, I figured I'd ask. We finally flagged down the waitress, and initially she didn't know why they were incomplete, but she guessed there were no sauces because of my allergy. I mentioned that both the sauces and tacos were labeled GF on the menu. Then she remembered they were out of one of the sauces (she didn't bother to tell me before I ordered the taco) and then went to ask the cook about the other. When she came back she told me he didn't put the other sauce on because it wasn't gluten free. I was confused because the tacos I ordered were labeled GF as is, and the sauces on the tacos were labeled GF in the sauce section of the menu as well. Additionally they served me that sauce on my last visit - the sauce the waitress was now saying was not GF (a little frustrating for me since I have celiac). When I mentioned these factors, trying to figure out what was going on, she insisted it was not GF - despite it's labeling as GF in two separate places on the menu - and, similarly to the manner she handled my husband's coffee, sort of flippantly said she could go get it for me if I wanted with the attitude of "at your own risk," despite not having explained any of the inconsistencies or even apologized for the trouble. I declined. Other than the incidents I described here, the waitress was polite, and kept our waters full. My husband liked one of his tacos (despite the tortilla problem) and didn't like the other. We ate our soggy tacos, paid our $46 for our meal of 4 total tacos and no drinks, and left.
We both left feeling frustrated that the kitchen was again out of several items, that we paid so much for incomplete and subpar food, that neither the waitress or the kitchen seemed to know what was in the food, and that we were treated in a snarky way that left me feeling humiliated and embarrassed and my...
Read moreIt was our first time visiting 375 Social, and it was nothing short of perfection. We were fortunate enough to meet both of the owners and were served by Joseph the bartender. We ordered the Southside, Sangrita, and Queen Consort and all were made in craft cocktail fashion, nothing premixed and everything was spectacular in the drink department….but now for the actual dining portion of the review:
The food was NOT spectacular, IT WAS ABSOLUTE PERFECTION!
We ordered the bacon jam sprouts, Korean grilled chicken wanton nachos, 1 volcano chicken bao and 1 birria bao at the suggestion of the staff. We also had a banana pudding and the strawberry cream cake for dessert. The food came out quickly and was beautifully presented, honestly, presentation doesn’t matter to me much though when the food just tastes this spectacular. The bao was fried instead of steamed, but was still very moist and delicious, the volcano chicken was slightly spicy, and was absolutely delicious; I can’t say it earned the name volcano but it was very good. As someone who isn’t huge on Bruessel sprouts, these were literally the best vegetables I’ve ever eaten. The bacon jam accented the sprouts in a way that I found to be surprising but a very welcome experience. If my mom cooked child me these sprouts they would have been devoured without hesitation. The nachos were also beautiful presented as well as a heaping plate of nachos can be. I would mention, the full order is ENORMOUS! The flavor goachijang sauce on the chicken was delicious. If your unfamiliar w it, it can be a bit salty, but with the wonton nachos there was no blatant taste of saltiness. I know it’s a nacho plate, but it was perfectly balanced….again delicious. Dessert…this is literally better than my grandmas banana pudding and NOTHING is better than my grandmas banana pudding 🤫, don’t tell her. The cake was moist, light, an amazing vehicle for the fresh fruit it was served with.
I could not recommend this place more. The staff is beyond friendly, the service was near immaculate, and the food was to die for. Thanks 375 for taking amazing care of us this evening.
The literal ONLY thing I could say was it can take a minute or two to get drinks out, but that’s what you sign up for with handmade cocktails. Be patient, the wait is worth it and your patience will...
Read moreI had been wanting to try this place for a good while, and me and a few friends finally went... WE WILL NOT BE GOING BACK! The customer service greeting lacked a warm invitation, more like, welcome to "any fast food" restaurant. The server was more tolerant than anything because we were more into our conversation than ordering right away. The drinks were served and water forgotten, when ordering, we were more than rushed. When asked if we could keep a menu, she was less than thrilled, then hesitantly said ok. Sometime, after browsing the menu, my friend went to inquire about something she ordered and was met with dismissal from the cook/server as he ignored her(but then was confused as to who would get the same order she was concerned about). The menu itself is a connoisseur of several different cuisines someone thought to put together, adding culinary art skills for dishes that don't need them and lacking to the ones which could use it. The worst thing was the Tacos, nothing in the menu description states the "Opa" style burnt cheese and the miniscule amount of protein on them. The burgers look like a version of something odd, and the lo mien, although tasty, left a desire to want to add to it, something NOT allowed. When asked about getting something different, we were told to refer to the menu, at the very bottom, which stated "NO REFUNDS, or RETURNS" which seemed to be added recently, as prior to coming, I read the reviews and aside from the new menu coming soon, previously did not contain it. My concern with this is how many times has it happened that you seemingly found it NECESSARY to ACTUALLY put it on the menu?!? When asked to speak to the manager, who by the way never came, it took more than 20 min for the server to return and let us know that particular dish would be comped but it won't happen again, to which she gave an appalled look when the reply was we won't be coming back again! A lot of places are starting to charge a slight fee for credit/debit card use, but I have yet to see a 4.4% fee for use until here. Honestly, the only good thing was the appetizer tray and live Saxophonist and ONLY because he's familiar from LUNA's on San Pedro. If you're looking for a restaurant to confuse you, your palate and your wallet, this...
