5 out of 5 stars – Texas Roadhouse is what happens when Zeus blesses a steakhouse, Willie Nelson writes the menu, and every meal is served with a side of “YEE-HAW.”
It started like any great American story: I was hungry. Not “grab-a-snack” hungry—legendary hungry. The kind of hungry where you start hearing the Arby’s “we have the meats” voice in your head. So I pulled into Texas Roadhouse like a cowboy riding into town after a long cattle drive, minus the horse but with the same amount of dust on my boots and ambition in my heart.
As soon as I walked in, the smell hit me—grilled meat, cinnamon butter, and hope. It smelled like freedom, like Toby Keith high-fiving a bald eagle while Garth Brooks strums an acoustic version of your childhood memories.
They sat me near the front, where I could see the rolls coming out hot like some kind of carb-based miracle. The server brought a basket over, and I kid you not, I blacked out after the first bite. That warm, buttery roll with the cinnamon honey butter? I would fight a bear for it. A large bear. A bear who also loves carbs.
The server, bless her heart, was a force of nature. She called me “darlin’” and didn’t even flinch when I asked if I could get extra butter and a “medium steak that’s still emotionally available.” She laughed. We bonded. I think we’re technically best friends now.
I ordered the Ft. Worth Ribeye because I believe in celebrating life like I just won the Super Bowl—even though all I did was survive a Monday. It came out sizzling, seasoned like it had been blessed by Paula Deen and slow-danced with Guy Fieri. I took one bite and looked around to make sure I wasn’t on a cooking show. I wasn’t, but the steak deserved an Emmy.
The sides? Mashed potatoes smoother than Matthew McConaughey narrating a Lincoln commercial. Green beans so good I briefly believed in vegetables again.
Midway through the meal, a birthday happened at another table, and the entire staff line-danced their way over with more enthusiasm than the cast of High School Musical. I clapped. I cheered. I considered pretending it was my birthday too, just to feel that level of joy.
By the end of the night, I was full, happy, and emotionally healed. Texas Roadhouse isn’t just dinner. It’s therapy. It’s Americana. It’s the smell of sizzling dreams and the sound of peanuts crunching under cowboy boots.
Go. Order the steak. Eat the rolls. Line dance if your heart tells you to. This...
Read moreYesterday for dinner I ordered pickup/to-go using the mobile app. When I arrived and spoke to the hostess at the to go window she did inform me that our order would be ready at 7:08 PM as stated in the mobile app, and that we could wait in our vehicle and we would receive a text once the order was completed. At around 7:15 pm I have still not received a text, so I went back to the to-go window to check on the order… the hostess was visibly annoyed and did inform me that yes my order was already ready but because they were waiting on rolls the order was not complete. She said I was more than welcomed to take my order without the rolls and She also reiterated in a condescending tone that I should wait on the text that I would receive once the order was ready. A few more minutes pass and our order is given to us at 7:20PM. I go to my car and check the order and there is a side of macaroni cheese as well as the cheesecake we ordered for dessert that are missing from the order. I go back and let the hostess know and by the time I get the missing items for the order and leave to head home It’s now 7:26 pm. We are now looking at about 18 minutes from the time my order was sitting waiting on the rolls to come up till now. I live about 7-8 min away and once we get home and start eating our dinner we realize all of our food is either cold or Luke warm….we ordered a prime rib, loaded baked potato and steak fries, this was all cold…we ordered another 8oz steak with loaded baked potato and macaroni…the only thing remotely warm was the macaroni…both of the baked potatoes were hard from sitting so long. My son ordered a chicken fried steak with broccoli and Mac n cheese…again the only thing that wasn’t cold was the macaroni and it wasn’t hot just luke warm. For the $70 we spent last night on dinner I really feel BOTH the service and the quality of food we received was severely lacking. I immediately contacted the restaurant through their website and never received any response. I also ironically NEVER received the text message the hostess kept hounding me about that stated our order was ready. We will probably not be dining here again. Hopefully someone from the store’s management reaches out because at this point they have dropped the ball in...
Read moreUpdate: To be fair, this year old review needs to be updated. The quality of the food is more consistent and there is an entire staff at the to-go window. They literally verify in your presence that your order is complete and correct before you leave. I applaud these much needed changes in procedures and have consistently enjoyed eating at the restaurant as well as ordering to-go over the past several months.
Original Review: I order Texas Roadhouse at least once per week, but probably won't order from them again. The food used to be very good, the servers were amazing and the overall experience was pleasant. Over the past year or more (post-covid) the standards have apparently lapsed, the food is hit or miss, and the orders are almost always incomplete. I understand a mistake once in a while, but it appears as though the orders are just being thrown together without a care for getting it correct. And there doesn't appear to be any oversight as to quality or standards by the management. Last night I ordered a medium well sirloin that was cooked well done (and then some) and was extremely dry, and lacked any seasoning. They also forgot one of the sides. I ordered a grilled chicken salad and they forgot the chicken. Although this has become more the norm than the exception at this location, I have refrained from posting a review because we really used to enjoy the food and we hoped it would get back to what it used to be. Last night I decided enough was enough and attempted to call the restaurant and speak to a manager. But the phone does not get answered by any person at the restaurant. I called at least five times and only reached a recording that repeats itself over and over no matter which option you choose. Given the downward trend on the quality of the food and service, I can't say I was surprised that I was unable to reach anyone at the restaurant. I won't be ordering from here again...
