Now that the dust has settled with this new Chick-fil-A location, I was able to finally check it out without having to wait for an hour in the crazy winding drive thru line that they have temporarily setup to handle the newly acquired volume.
Now don't get me wrong, if you show up here at peak dining times (especially during lunch or dinner) you're still going to wait in longer than "normal" (compared to some other fast food places) line. There is still the fascination of being able to eat Chick-fil-A in Michigan that you're still going to probably have to deal with for the foreseeable future until more and more locations start to pop up, and it becomes a readily available place to eat just like everything else.
I should also mention before we continue that I have only ever used the drive thru here, so I cannot speak about anything regarding the experience of dining in. It is however a brand new establishment so I would anticipate it being very clean and modern like most places that have just opened tend to be.
If you're unfamiliar with Chick-fil-A because you either live under a rock or had previously never left the state of Michigan and had to eat while you were gone, it's a somewhat controversial chicken sandwich chain that is famous for their incredibly simple yet undeniably delicious chicken sandwiches (and the fact that they're closed on Sundays). You know, the kind of chicken sandwiches that all of the other fast food chains are furiously trying (and mostly failing) to duplicate.
One other thing that you must note is that Chick-fil-A is NOT cheap. It's absolutely on the higher end of the pricing scale when it comes to fast-food establishments. If you're looking for an affordable place to grab food for you and the kids while you're out, you're probably going to look elsewhere for the sake of your wallet.
I've eaten Chick-fil-A a myriad of times, mostly on vacations or business trips, but this was my first time eating it close to home, and I must say this particular time didn't really live up to previous experiences. Of course the customer service was top notch and on point like always, that never fails. But my sandwich didn't seem nearly as fresh as it could have been, and my fries were sort of warm. Maybe this location is still trying to keep up with the crazy volume, I'm not exactly sure. I was definitely expecting more based on previous Chick-fil-A experiences else where, but it is what it is I suppose. What I will say is that based upon this experience, it will keep me from waiting in the very long lines you'll still find yourself in here. I'll simply give it another go when all the hype dies down a bit.
When all is said and done, if you've got a hankering for a Chick-fil-A sandwich that you just cannot seem to shake, I would avoid this location for now (just until the new location hype dies down) and just find one that's been open for a while. You're less likely to wait in the long lines that you're likely to find at this location. Perhaps your food will be a bit more fresh as well.
Will I be back? I'm sure there will be an opportunity or two to fit this into my regimen as a "cheat meal" at some point, but I'll be waiting until the hype is...
Read moreThe staff washes all of their dishes with RAW chicken, it’s been going on since they opened and the owner and every manager is aware, Billy Hardy, the owners brother and manager, is the main one who allows it because he does it himself. The tea and LEMONADE dispensers are washed along with RAW chicken. The ICE CREAM machine pieces are washed with RAW chicken. The employees take out trash and use the same gloves to make sandwiches, ask ECOSURE, it was in a report. There is MOLD in EVERY ice bin and every ice scoop, ask to see it. Lemonade is made without gloves in a spot that has FLIES so bad, the health department visits weekly. Don’t bother ordering breakfast because the breakfast chicken is always EXPIRED by 1 or 2 days, they keep the old date labels on and change them if the health department comes. If you order ice cream and the taste is off, it’s because there’s CHEMICALS in it, other locations ice cream doesn’t taste the same as the Livonia location. The chemicals you taste in the ice cream or food is Kay-5 Sanitizer and or the Kay multipurpose cleaner. The reason the soda/pop tastes off, is because they don’t clean the nozzles properly so there is always BLACK MOLD built up. They cross-contaminate the bleach with the multipurpose cleaner. The hot coffee dispenser is never cleaned properly, you can find MOLD build up inside, but the coffee will taste like chemicals because they put cleaning solution in it and don’t rinse it before serving coffee. The iced coffee is always EXPIRED by 5 days+, they just change the label. The iced coffee syrups are always EXPIRED as well, the sugar free syrup is expired by 8 months, they just put a new date label over the original date whenever ECOSURE visits. The reason your chicken tastes RAW in the middle is because they attempt to thaw the RAW chicken in the dishwashing sink and prepare it before...
Read moreLet me first say, I hate leaving negative reviews but I’ve been to this location 3 times total, with this most previous experience being my last time I’ll go to this location. I usually go to Northville and they are amazing but this location just isn’t it.
I went in there the other evening. Around 6ish probably after heading home from the hospital all day to be with my husband. I had my son with me. I had ordered my food online for pick up. When I arrived inside, they were very busy. I could see the shakes I ordered were already sitting there. The what I assume to be manager approached me and said he was not able to make the modifications to my salad and confirmed I still wanted it. I said yes and he said he would have it for me shortly. Meanwhile I heard him tell other guests they did not have anymore salads. There was an issue with another guests salad and they were supposed to have grilled chicken and they went back to fix the issue. After literally about 40 minutes of waiting patiently with my child, they hand my my bag and then the manager comes over to me and tells me that’s the wrong salad and it was one with grilled chicken which belonged to the other guest who had issues, took the bag out of my hand rather quickly and proceeds to tell me they do not have any other salads to give me even though just 40 minutes prior he confirmed my salad and said he would have it out for me, all while my shakes were long melted. He said “I’ll just cancel your order!”
I understand being busy and I understand running out of items but to literally confirm my order and say you’ll have it shortly, to sit in wait over 40 minutes to be told they don’t actually have it was...
