This is my 2nd BAD experience at Oasis in Livonia. I should have learned from the 1st BAD experience, but just thought it was a one-time ordeal. I've always eaten at Oasis, but only the location in Warren. Their food in the Warren location is always fresh and tasty, and their bread is always freshly baked. Because I had relatives in from out of town that wanted Mediterranean, I decided to give the Livonia location another try. The place being empty my 1st and 2nd visit should have been my 1st clue. The food was actually WORSE this time. Paid $56 for 2 dinners, prices that were not aligned with their menu (overcharge). Ordered one Chicken Shawarma and one Shish Tawook dinner with grilled veggies. The Chicken Shawarma was so bad (dry and hard - see pic), even the dog wouldn't eat it. It was as if it had been cooked a few days prior or taken off some in-house patron's plate and re-served as a carryout. The Shish Tawook wasn't much better, but was edible providing you drowned it in garlic sauce. The bread was dry, as if it had been cooked the day before, and the rice was absolutely horrible!! There's no way rice that chewy was freshly cooked that day unless AGAIN it was taken off an in-house patron's plate, left out in the room, then re-served as a carryout. This place needs to CLOSE. I will not be returning, and I do not recommend this place. If you choose to get a carryout, be sure to check your food once you get in your vehicle. Had I don't that, I would have immediately...
Read moreOrdered for a large gathering. Disgusting packaging. When I called the business was argumentive, barely let me speak and were deeply rude. I believe before I hung up the owner had the audacity to comment that this was our first time ordering as if our $200+ order meant nothing. Well Sir, you are correct it was our first, congratulations as it will be our last. We should have went where we usually do, but we wanted to try a smaller local business. Every single container was leaking. Every bag and box coated in liquid and grease. The soup lids had shattered in multiple ways. Owner tried to blaim the delivery service...but the flimsy containers were at fault. So flimsy they snapped in half when lifting them up ruining food. We had to repackage everything into Tupperware after serving as most of the containers could not be closed again. Again grease and Soup everywhere. A disgusting mess. Also the food was Ice cold. After how long it took to clean my kitchen before dinner was even served I assumed it would be luke warm; but it was cold cold. The delivery service had them in hot coolers and we live less than 10 minutes away. No excuse. Rude, sloppy, cold, and frankly...bland. Don't waste your time and money, go to a higher quality establishment where you get the flavor you deserve. Pictured below is the first of many ruined bags. If you can't handle togo don't offer it, don't penny pinch on supplies at the...
Read moreI’ve been here dozens of times, and generally the food is very good. I like their hommus, Lamb chili, falafel, and both beef and chicken shawarma. Any fan of Mediterranean food in SE Michigan can tell you that the quality varies a lot. Oasis has been good quality and prepared well the vast majority of the time, however recently it has been getting worse which is the reason for 4 stars instead of 5. From the way the meat is seasoned and cooked to the way the turnips are sliced and pickled, somehow they have become very inconsistent recently. Sometimes I’ll have a perfect, delicious beef shawarma sandwich, other times they have been overloaded with onion, meat will be over cooked and the sandwich so wet the bread is soggy. This has only been a few times in the last year out of dozens of visits, so it may just be one of their cooks who isn’t up to par.
Also having no AC during the hottest months of summer will absolutely drive people away.
Short version: Oasis is good but they used to be better than they are now. If they can get back to the consistent quality that had a year or more ago, I will continue to...
