Customer service in the food industry just makes a person not ordering from this restaurant, and I am amazed how I received such a poor experience through online ordering. I placed an order online around 8pm because according to google and other sources the restaurant closes at 10pm. When placing this order online it allows you to set a pick up time to 10pm. Due to me working late, I wasn’t getting off until it was late in the night I proceeded to set a pick up time for 10pm. Assuming they are like Wingstop which even after 12midnight they allow you to pick up your food. I received a call from Detroit Wing Co letting me know I needed to pick the order up by 9:30pm. I negotiated 9:45pm, but then thought to myself after I got off the phone as to why I needed to pick up so early. I called back and asked if there could be any way that I could pick up my order at 10pm considering that it was already paid for through the online portal. The cashier didn’t know so she went to get her manager in which I spoke to the manager Dave who informed me that they closed at 9pm and they stop taking orders at 9:30pm which didn’t make an ounce of sense. However if didn’t pick up my order they would throw it out and I would be refunded the following day because they walk out at 10pm. Once I proceeded to explain that I didn’t think it was fair that an online portal allows me to place an order at 10pm and I am told that I have to pick it up 30mins before, but ALSO received a text an hour before the pick up time saying my food was ready. I then explained that I felt that this was ridiculous because it doesn’t say on Google or even your website that you close at 9pm, but also if that’s the case why is there a window to pick food up at 10pm? He proceeded to say that “90 PERCENT” of their customers knows these things. Which led me to inform him that I am the 10% that doesn’t know because this is my first time ordering. There was no consideration for the fact that I didn’t want cold food, but also no apologies for just an inconvenience/ possibly a truthful misunderstanding. Dave’s only concern seem to be making sure he was out of the restaurant by 10pm. So I ended up just cancelling the order and was told that I get a refund in 24hrs. However it was really the back and forth and lack of showing any empathy with customer concerns. I truly hate leaving negative reviews ESPECIALLY one where i did not receive food to give an accurate review on taste. However Dave made this a very disappointing experience. I guess I’ll just stick...
Read moreMy first time coming to DWC after seeing them on Fox 2 was the day before Superbowl Sunday (I wanted to visit before gameday and try a few things, sauces, see how it goes, etc). I ordered the Mac & Cheese, Poutine, coleslaw, potato salad, and vegan tenders, and several sauces -all quite good! The regular mac & cheese was surprisingly filling...enough for two days. The vegan tenders were FANTASTIC! The Whiskey BBQ, Bold BBQ, Teriyaki, and Garlic Parmesan sauces were my favourites. Plenty of flavor and the bold seemed to have more heat than the whiskey version. Staff was friendly and it was ready about 15 min earlier than expected.
The next day I placed the Superbowl order. 12 pc classic and boneless wings, coleslaw, more mac and cheese, and a few sauces: bold bbq, hot garlic, sweet heat, calypso, and Garlic parm. I already knew they were having a limited menu for gameday and I expected a longer wait after placing my 3:30 pm order. Surprise again - it was ready 15 early and luckily I drove out early just in case.
The food was ready and service from the staff was fast and friendly. Unfortunately....they forgot two sauces (calypso and sweet heat) that I didn't get to try. The rest of the order was accurate and all tasted great!
With the price, it's definitely a treat, but I would visit Detroit Wing...
Read moreFirst time here and probably won't be back any time soon (however, the customer servc was on point). Honestly, I was really looking fwd to finally giving DWC a try, especially after learning there was a newer location close by where I live. I was sorely disappointed. Here's my list of reasons why. Wings are a nice size but lacked a lot of Seasoning. The sauces didn't really help the wings out either. We chose Honey Chipotle, Buffalo, and Lemon Pepper. They were just ok. Very "Mid" to say the least. You can tell the fries are frozen and do not travel well at all. They became cold and had a sortve old texture, even after being nuked for no more than 30 secs. & Their dipping sauces; ranch and blue cheese tasted store bought and very generic. Coleslaw was tasteless.
My bill came up to $60+ including tip.
DWC, I am quite sure you all being one of the "newer boys in town" concerning the "wing game", can appreciate criticism and feedback --- hopefully as a means to make improvements over...
