I recently had a disappointing experience with powerhouse gym that I feel compelled to share. Initially, I was excited to join and work towards my fitness goals. However, what started as a positive experience quickly turned sour due to their questionable billing practices.
From the get-go, I noticed that my monthly fees were higher than what was advertised when I signed up. I tried to brush it off as a minor inconvenience, but as time went on, I began to see additional charges popping up on my statements. Each month, it seemed like there was a new fee that I hadn’t been informed about, which left me feeling frustrated and misled.
When I finally decided to cancel my membership—due to both the overcharging and personal circumstances—I encountered even more issues. Instead of a straightforward cancellation process, I was met with an increase in fees and unclear terms. Each time I reached out for assistance, I was given conflicting information about cancellation policies and additional charges that would apply. It felt like a never-ending loop of customer service representatives who were either unable or unwilling to help me resolve the situation.
The lack of transparency regarding billing and the difficulties I faced when trying to cancel my membership left a sour taste in my mouth. I understand that gyms need to operate a business, but fair and honest practices should be at the forefront of any service-oriented company.
Overall, my experience with powerhouse gym has been incredibly disappointing. I would advise anyone considering membership here to thoroughly read the fine print and be prepared for potential complications with billing and cancellations. Fitness should be about empowerment and support, not hidden fees and frustrating hurdles. I hope they can improve their practices...
Read moreAvoid this club at all cost to many rude young kids that work here. Tonight was going to add a person to my account via a debit card. Libby informs me that they are going to charge me 7$ more to use my debit card. I wasn't informed of this when I 1st signed up, I did swear not at Libby out of frustration and Libby Spears instructioned me to leave the club. On the way out I was stopped by the a GM really decent and cool guy was trying to be helpful, during this conversation Libby ends up cussing. I ask her what about the no cussing policy she says if you can I can. As I am waiting for the GM to return from the office I'm standing at the computer waiting for the GM to come back out the door. Libby start staring at me so I wave, so she continues to stare so I stare back. Chris then comes out and ask me not to stare into the door I laughed and said bro you can't tell me where to look. He then takes a very aggressive posture with me and I said bro go. He responds with I'm not leaving and we trying to do this. The GM finally comes out and Chris is still standing at the door in an aggressive posture. I then point this out the GM and he observes this behavior. Upper management at this club is pretty good but to many untrained, disrespectful and immature kids work there. I would honestly give this club 0 stars 🌟 if that was an option. Libby and Chris need some serious training on conflict resolution and how to deal with customers. Save the helpless white girl act for someone else. Also another major mistake by the GM he never attempted to take control of the situation allowed his employees to attempt to intimate me. So if you want to belong to a gym where the employees will attempt to intimidate you by all means join. Also Libby Spears claims to be a Real...
Read moreOne year update:
This is a solid Powerhouse Gym. The staff is fine and the facility is well maintained considering the heavy use it receives. This is a fantastic gym. I had to cancel my membership and received no trouble at all.
Pros: New facility, fairly clean Good variety of equipment Really cool staff A dedicated powerlifting / bumper weight section, “old school” apparatuses Cool turf section and semi-private rooms Good for serious lifters, with almost everything we need Seems well staffed Women-only section Sauna, hydromassage, etc. stretching area and turf.
Cons Sauna is often colder than the setting- probably due to use. It’s usually around at 170°or lower (should be 190-200°F) Bathrooms are missing amenities (toothbrush, razors, working hair dryers, disposable toilet seat covers) which would be nice to have Locker room needs a used towel hamper... people just throw wet towels on the ground. The specialized training room was really a nice feature. It’s a shame they closed it to the public, but I’m sure there was some reason for it.
Anyway, a good gym, and I’m sure it will only get better with time. Looking forward to...
