My family and I have been eating at this restaurant since I was a child and I've never had any issues until now. It was the day before Thanksgiving and I had ordered three separate meals. One house burger minus onion, minus cheese with regular fries and a chicken noodle soup. One veggie melt minus cheese with regular fries and minestrone soup. One veggie melt minus onion with regular fries and cream of potato soup. Obviously since it was the day before the holiday the place was super busy and understaffed which I completely understood. After I had waited, and gotten home, the first item I took a look at was the burger. The cook had accidentally added mushrooms and onions to the burger and had given me battered fries instead of regular fries, like I had ordered. Knowing my mother wasn't going to eat this, my friend accompanied me to the restaurant when I went to correct my order. The waitress apologized and admitted that she had misunderstood and had written down the wrong type of burger so she hurried and gave me a new burger and the right kind of fries-or so I had thought. It was also in the middle of this, that I overheard the waitress mention to her coworker that there was hardly and noodles left in the soup container at the soup bar and that it was mostly broth, but I chose to believe that the waitress would have drained the broth and given me more noodles when she had prepared my order. My friend and I returned home and I gave my mom her food. When my friend and I opened our carry out boxes, we discovered that they had forgotten to include the fries with her meal. We also then realized that I had received the battered fries instead of regular fries. Since they were so busy and it was the day before, Thanksgiving my friend and I decided to let it go since it was only one missing item. Then later, after my friend had gone home and the restaurant had already closed, I asked my mother if she had gotten enough to eat for dinner. It surprised me when she said no, and that the restaurant had actually messed up her order for a second time. They gave her a burger with cheese and bacon on it. She then told me that she didn't want to bother the staff up at the restaurant so she was just going to eat the soup, but when she opened the container, it was all basically broth. I made my mom dinner then decided to talk to the staff about it the next time I went up there since, as I have previously mentioned, we would order food from this restaurant frequently. When I returned to the restaurant one week later and tried to talk to the owner of the store about it, he got really upset and became rude. I was so shocked, I tried to reason with him, but he acted as he didn't care and didn't even know me. He even accused me of lying because he wasn't listening to my story and misunderstood what I was saying. I told him that I was never coming back and that he didn't care about his customers. I was more hurt by his reaction than anything else. How embarrassing to get mad over a messed up meal and to care more about making money than your customers. From now on I will be taking my...
Read moreSo I visited this place with hope in my heart. An acquaintance of mine took me there for breakfast and it was not the most comforting experience. We were seated by a man who did not make any eye contact, pointed in the direction of the table we were to be sit, and he slapped the menu on the table. That set the tone for a very awkward experience. He asked in a very dismissive tone if we wanted one coffee or two, as if we were disturbing his day or something. Anywho the woman comes to the table and asks if we know what we want order, neither of us were ready and she offered to circle back. She then continues a very dismissive conversation with another table about how slow the kitchen is, to justify the duration of their wait. She then comes back, I ordered waffles and before my acquaintance could speak, she says “You can’t order that after 2 o'clock.” 🤔 they had two prices on the menu $7.99 for before 2pm $8.99 for after. But anywho I then order French toast, “We don’t have that or biscuits or sausage” , in a very stern tone as if I’d been coming there my whole life. “Ok..” I respond and then she says “We have pancakes.” I didn’t want pancakes but to make the moment less intense I said, “Sure I’ll have the Strawberry pancakes.” And this is what she brought me. Overcooked, strawberry sauce smothered, very underwhelming plate of what tasted like slop! Because my acquaintance was paying I tried to be nice and respectful but this was disgusting. I do not recommend going here if you are looking for a family experience because they seem like an exhausted and uncaring...
Read moreI haven’t been to Leon’s in a couple years because of moving and other crazy life changes, but always enjoyed their food and had a couple favorite waitresses. It was really nice to see Wally again, who remembered me. My dad even had a good association with a previous visit.
I did have a problem for the first time ever, another customer (Lisa, if I remember correctly) noticed and helped before I said anything, and Wally was awesome about the resolution. I was so thankful for the kindness of both, that I had to say thanks again, publicly…
As far as the food goes, I think there’s a different cook now, but the beef barley and potato soups are still absolutely delicious!
The portions are very nice for the price. Whenever I’m in town, I’d be glad to drop in again.
If I’m not mistaken, there was some remodeling probably thanks to Covid concerns about keeping restaurant customers safe, but the place was still familiar- just now with nicely done decor.
I did miss the waitresses that had been there, and Wally personally cleared our table, but I understand that the past couple years have been tough for business owners with staffing. I hope there continues to be more content customers than...
