Pop's Italian Beef & Sausage — Restaurant in Lockport

I couldnt even leave the parking lot w/o posting a review. It takes alot for me to post a negative review after being in the service and hospitality business over 25 years. I've eaten at this location nearly 10x and was such a great eat. Staff was always subpar to par. Tonight was a disaster. Entering @830p on a Tuesday and standing in line couldn't of been more uncomfortable. The attitude towards all the customers from what I assume to be a manager as he always has run the regi during my visits. Young guy, bearded, glasses, could not having spoken and acted more repulsed by our presence. To place my order having 3 of the 5 cooks staring us down, swearing in Spanish what we are ordering while cusing us out to the others ! Cmon now vatos, us white people speak Spanish also. I assume because they close at 9p we were all a problem. Fine whatever, have some pride in your work and business. But fine.

They pack my food to w/o asking, so I sit anyway for a quick bite. What a horror ! Cold beef on bread topped by cold shredded mozzarella, not a bit melted, just slopped in. Glad I asked for au jus on the side, it was warm at least. Probably due to all the attention and swears it took to put some in a cup for me. The fries hard and tasteless.. Cup a cheese was hot though. I'll round it with they didnt ruin my Pepsi in any way.

That was one of the worst experiences in a restaurant ever. Take some pride, have some class and self respect. I know my 12.50 is making anyone rich, but I deserved a fair meal. I tossed out more then half my meal.. Terrible

That said I will visit Pops again, but NEVER this location...

Credit/Debit card machine wasnt working the last three times that we visited this place. They refused to let us pay with a debit card, and we had to go to an ATM to get cash. Terrible customer service!! Terrible management!! By the time we got back from the ATM, our food was cold!! Manager was sending everyone to ATM across the street because their credit/debit card machine is always down or broken. Another MAJOR problem is this location has NO FETA CHEESE!!?? Who serves a gyro without Feta cheese!!? The store manager doesnt even know what Feta cheese even is!! (Who eats a gyro with mozzarella cheese on a gyro?) Terrible management!! The Italian Beef sandwiches are amazing, but the gyros are terrible WITHOUT Feta Cheese!! You cant get any Feta Cheese at this location, and who eats a gyro without Tzatziki sauce or Feta Cheese!!?? Nick's gyros (on 159th Street) is a little bit better (at least they have Feta cheese) but Goody's in Homer Glen (on Bell Road) has the best gyros that actually come with Tzatziki sauce and fresh Feta Cheese! I'd definitely skip this place and just head over to Goody's in Homer Glen on Bell Road. It's worth the drive to Goody's, better daily specials, better gyro plates, and delicious fresh Feta Cheese! Amazing food at Goody's! Not a fan of Pop's, until they replace the management and start having $5 daily Gyro specials, and start serving Feta Cheese with the gyros!! Been coming here for a long time. Beef sandwiches are good, gyros sandwiches, shrimp and fries. This past Tuesday I ordered the usual, beef, gyros, fries, pizza puffs and for the first time grilled chicken sandwich on croissant which was awful! They use finely shredded lettuce which after it’s wrapped it gets all mushy and was very dry, my dog wouldn’t even eat it. Like I said we like the gyros, but we don’t like the tzatziki sauce directly on the sandwich because it’s all mushy by the time it gets home so we ask for sauce on the side. They charge you extra for sauce on the side. I can see “extra sauce” being charged for but on the side? Because they don’t put it on the sandwich, they’ll charge you like .85¢ for each sauce. Service is fast…… a little too fast. I noticed whenever we are there the whole order is done in five minutes. So obviously their food is pretty much pre- cooked.
