The outside of this place looked very interesting, it catches your eye and that's what got our attention. Walking in was a whole other experience. The decor is kind of all over the place. It appeared to be a standard Mexican restaurant, but it is very cheesy and cheap looking.
The waitress was nice and very informative. If it wasn't for her we would have probably left sooner. Which brings me to the reason why. The food was subpar at best. I've been to a lot of Mexican restaurants and this one had to of been the most inauthentic of them all. I ordered the California burrito and my wife had some kind of deep fried potato ball? A pablano pepper fried in a batter and a side of beans. Both dishes were covered in what I would call an orange tomato sauce. The sauce tasted very odd. Nothing like a red rojo or enchilada sauce. It was the polar opposite. It was very bitter and had almost a creamy consistency.
The inner part of my burrito was filled mostly with refried beans, green peppers, some onions and very little meat. The best part of the dish was the pico de gallo. Which is sad considering I ordered a burrito. My wifes deep fried potato ball looked odd and was cold in the center. Her pepper looked reheated, like it was defrosted and then microwaved.
Which brings me to the best part of the meal. My son ordered a hamburger. A hamburger at a Mexican restaurant and it looked absolutely delicious. He said it was so good, but the fries were not that great, but a burger should not be the highlight of a restaurant that deals in authentic Mexican food.
Such a shame. Then to add insult to injury. The place was a mess. There was debris all over the floor. I watched the staff clearing a few tables. They pulled out this army tank of a cart and it was filled to the brim with dirty dishes to the point that they could barely fit what was on the tables. The one guy spilled a drink all over the floor, walked away with the cart and left a puddle on the floor. Which stayed there until we left.
The price of the food was insulting as well. For what we ordered with zero alcoholic beverages came to almost 60 bucks! That's just unacceptable considering they don't even use fresh ingredients. So, in closing...go to Taco Bell instead of here. You'll at least get what...
Read moreI see other people complaining about the wait and yes, there was a wait but we were here on a Holiday weekend and it was exceptionally busy. However - The chips and salsa: They bring out a bowl of chips and big bowl for the salsa with barely any salsa in it. Not even halfway through the chips, the salsa was gone. We asked for some more and they brought out another big bowl with just as little salsa in it. My husband ate a couple chips from that bowl and said "This salsa isn't good" and stopped eating it. I got some queso for mine and the flavor was decent but it had the consistency of water. It's like they're trying to get everything to stretch as far as they can get it to stretch. The food - they brought my husband's food out first. He waited a little bit and I told him to go ahead and eat. He was almost finished with his by the time they brought me mine. Since mine took so long, I assumed it would be nice and hot. Wrong. I got enchiladas and they were cold inside and out. My husband got a "giant" burrito that was about half the size of a regular burrito from all of our Mexican restaurants back home. We set our plate off to the side and some lady came and ripped them off the table. It took us by surprise. The guy brought us our check and we went up and stood at the register for quite awhile waiting for someone to acknowledge us. Then we were stunned when it was $53 for the two of us (no alcohol). We'd had stellar BBQ in Lancaster earlier in the day for $36 with plenty left over that we were begging to take home... When the lady finally came up, she didn't speak 2 words to us. All she did was huff and sigh and whip her hand out to take my card. Never once looking at us or anything. I signed my receipt and off she went. No "How was your food?" "Thank you" "Have a good night"...nothing. The only person that was pleasant was the older lady who checked us in when...
Read moreThe food and service was pretty decent, however I have to give this place a very low score because of it's "owner".
The owner was very rude and argumentative with my wife and I. We asked for guacamole and sour cream on the side, which we were aware it would be an extra charge. However, when our food was brought out we did not get neither. We mention this to the server and the owner came over to argue with us about it. He said my dish had guacamole and sour cream "on the side" as part of the "salad" that was served with my entree. I asked if I could get some on the actual side and he proceeded to tell me I should have been more specific. I thought I was clear when I ordered these 2 things "on the side". My wife did not get either and when we asked for it, he was condescending and told us there would be an additional charge. We explained to him we were aware of this already. I asked him if he was the manager. He said "I am the owner" I asked him if he treated and spoke to all his customers this way. He said" depends" the "really picky ones I do not like to deal with".
Things broke down pretty quickly at this point. I told him we could leave and go some place else if he wanted to treat paying customers this way. Before it got into an altercation my wife intervened and told him to go away so we can enjoy our food.
I checked out other reviews on here to see if our encounter with this person was a "one off" but no, it seems many have had a similar experience with this "owner"
This person should not be in the food/customer service industry. They have no respect or friendliness to his customers. I was completely dumbfounded he acted the way he did toward us because of a requesting something as simple as guacamole and sour cream on the side.
I am not sure if he is a new owner, but I would not go back to this restaurant if I was paid to. He completely...
