We visited Hocking Hills this weekend for the first time to enjoy the nature trails with our 5 and 7 year old kids. We booked a room for 2 adults and 2 children with two queen beds weeks ago and received a confirmation email with this information. When we arrived at the Sleep Inn Saturday at 2pm we checked in and were told we had a king suite with one king bed. I explained we had 4 people including two kids and that wouldn’t work. I was told by both the woman at the front desk and then her supervisor that they were fully booked and we were out of luck. I asked for two roll away beds and was told they could only provide one due to fire rules. They suggested one of our kids sleep on the floor. They told us “the last time this happened we just gave blankets for someone to sleep on the floor.” If this is a known issue with their computer systems they need to resolve it immediately.
The positive is the woman checking people in at the front desk was friendly and the room was clean. However, their error got our weekend off to a sour start. I asked for a discount due to someone in our family needing to sleep on the floor and was told they would check with the manager and get back to me. They did not and we were charged the full amount. The other negatives were that there were zero drawers in our hotel room. Not one. Very strange for a hotel room. There were also no recycling bins anywhere in the hotel that I could see. The walls were also very thin. Our room neighbors were not even talking very loud other than a laugh here or there, but we could hear them clear as day as if they were right in our room with us late at night.
Overall, the hotel was clean and staff was generally friendly. I would not stay here again, but if you do I highly recommend you call ahead of time to confirm your reservation is as you requested, and...
Read moreI had my room reserved for almost 3 months. I walked in and was impressed by the place, clean and neat. Got registered and went to my room. I was pleasantly surprised by how nice it was and couldn't wait to unpack as I was staying 3 days. The room was hot and stuffy so it went to adjust the AC but it threw up an error code and would not reset. I went back down (my room was on the 3rd floor) to the front desk. They said they would send a maintenance guy to repair the unit. Within minutes a nice young man showed up, he unplugged the unit several times and tried to reset it. Nothing worked. He said I'll see about getting you another room. Back down to the front desk, they said he didn't reset it right so back he went. I stayed in the lobby with my luggage. After awhile he came back and said no he couldn't get it going but another maintenance guy would be there to look at it tomorrow. Tomorrow? I said, it's 80 degrees in there. We can give you a fan...I said no thanks and went to the front desk again. I gave back my key cards and asked for a new room. The young lady said they were booked full and there were none available. While I was waiting I had checked the website and it was still selling rooms. I pointed this out and the lady got a little irritated and said I don't know anything about that we are booked. So you can't help me? No I'm sorry. Not acceptable I said, she then called her boss, came back and said we've issued you a refund, you should see it in your account in 3 to 5 business days. That's all we can do. We'll I had paid in advance and didn't plan for the expense of getting another hotel room. I eventually got my refund but won't do business with this place again. Wouldn't help find an alternative or anything. Just left me stranded without a room. Thanks Sleep Inn I...
Read moreOur family chose this hotel mainly because everything else was booked or ridiculously expensive. The hotel was clean, the decorations were modern and minimal. The staff were all wearing masks and were constanly seen cleaning. The pool was nice and kept at a nice temperature. It was never overpopulated during the days we were staying. The hotel doesnt allow more than 13 in the pool area at a time. Usually, we were in there by ourselves. At one point, there weren't towels at the pool area but that was literally one time out of three. The hotel was prompt when replacing towels or anything we requested. The coffee machine in the room was a disappointment, but they do have coffee in the breakfast area available all day and night which tastes far better. The continental breakfast was mainly carbs consisting of bagels, muffins, and oatmeal. The healthier items were yogurt and fruit. It was not bagged like the website described. The shower head is like being sprayed with a tiny squirtgun and couldn't even wet my hair, leading me to wash my hair under the bathtub spigot. The hotel offers a 10% discount to local restaurants which came in handy so many times. Overall, we truly enjoyed our stay and will be staying again. It is so conveniently located to so many nice places worth a visit. I am concerned that they may not wash the down blankets after every visitor so beware. I plan on asking about this before we stay again. Happy...
