This is a review of the bike service department and not the retail space. I had The Sportsman put new brakes and a new derailleur on my bike and was not very impressed. It should have been a red flag when the salesman was shocked at how much brakes cost and assumed I couldn't afford them.
Rear brake line was routed on the OUTSIDE of the frame where it would rub between my foot and the frame, and more importantly created a loop that could catch on something. This line was also not attached to the frame when routed next to the rear wheel in a way where it was literally rubbing against the tire. Had to tape it before riding since I didn't have zip ties on hand. Front brake line was given too much slack and was rubbing agains front spokes. Brand new derailleur was pretty jumpy when shifting, and, small detail here but the cable was not crimped coming out of the derailleur so now that is going to fray over time. Dropper post button was moved comically far away from the thumb. Easy enough to move this back to where I had it but just found this odd.
Small things like this all add up quickly, and things like re-zip tying the cables in front so they don't rattle agains the frame are attention to detail I have always received elsewhere in the past. Makes me wonder what I am not picking up on. The 2 stars are for getting me out for a ride faster than other local shops could during peak season, but considering I'm taking my bike to another mechanic 2 days later I'm not sure it...
Read moreMy husband and I took skiis in for the basic tune-up service. We took them Monday afternoon and told the shop we needed them done by Saturday, as we were going to be using them Saturday, and we were assured they'd be finished Wednesday. Wednesday was a holiday, so we figured they'd be done Thursday. When we called Thursday to inquire, we were told they might be done Friday or Saturday. When we called Friday afternoon they said they would probably be done by the end of the day. We went to the shop Friday evening, 20 minutes before closing time, and they let us know they they were still working on them and they would be done by closing (they finished working on them at closing time, and we left 5 minutes after). I'm not impressed by the customer service of the shop. No employees were at the counter when we arrived to inquire after the skiis, and there was no bell to request assistance, the options were to either sit around and wait or search for an employee ourselves (we did the latter). From what I can tell, the shop has over-priced equipment and poor customer service. Will NOT be returning, we will find better services and prices elsewhere...
Read moreThis seems like the best professional sports store in Logan. It doesn't cover every sport, but they have a lot of expensive stuff.
I took my bike in to have them throw some tubeless mountain tires on it that I already owned. Friendly staff. Their bike guy seemed cool. He looks like a college student working hard to pay his way through his love of bikes.
Anyways, I requested the tire with more tread left be put in the rear. The opposite was done, so I'll need a new set of tires sooner than I wanted.
Also, when I went to check on them over a week later, the lady at the front thought it was weird I came in to check because they'd usually call me, she said. Since I gave them my phone number I also expected a call. When we went to the bike area to check on it, the note said it was done a week before. They simply never called or texted and left my bike ready to go on their rack.
Between no communication, expensive stuff, and inability to follow instructions (which I verbally told the bike guy and wrote down twice), they get 3 stars. The job was completed technically, so that's where the 2 stars above...
