I was excited about this place for no reason… I’m very disappointed. I went here twice. Once on my own, the other when a friend invited me. I wasn’t keen on going back after the first time, but decided to give it a second chance as it’s a new place and sometimes getting a place off the ground can be rough. I found the same poor results both times. The food was subpar at best. The noodles were more like a slime than a noodle. Parts of the meat were tough and chewy, while other parts were just straight up clumps of fat. That was bad enough anyway, especially for the price. I get we’re all trying to make a living in this expensive world… but know what your product is worth. The thing that bothered me most about this establishment is that I heard someone yelling at/telling off the workers. This happened more than once while I was there, both times. I don’t know if it’s a manager or boss or whoever, but wow. Isn’t this a brand new place? In my line of work, new workers are given a chance to get used to their environment and aren’t punished if they don’t have things completely figured out within the first couple weeks or so. This place is lucky to have workers, as it’s so hard to find people willing to work. I don’t want to go back and support a place where it’s acceptable to talk to workers or coworkers in such a disrespectful way, in earshot of customers nonetheless. This place will need to make some serious improvements if it wants to run successfully. I will not be going back, but I will be hoping the place can either improve or that the workers who were being constantly yelled at can find a work environment that will appreciate them. I very seldom write reviews but felt the need to let people know the type of place they’re going to. Find a better place to give...
Read moreI wanted to like Nara Ramen so bad… unfortunately, I was pretty disappointed with my experience here. I am a huge ramen fan, it does not take a lot to impress me. Even with that in mind, I found myself wishing that I spent my money elsewhere. The service was great, the girls who helped me out were kind and considerate while taking my order. However, at the register, all it took from me was a single glance down at the table to see a note written with “Tips go to ownership, not employees.” That was unbelievably shady, and made me feel bad for even wanting to buy something at Nara. The staff who helped me deserved a tip for their service, it’s unbelievable that businesses still think they can get away with taking money from their employees like this. I’m very glad that the note was out to let me know about how these employees were being treated by such a new business, and I didn’t bother tipping as to not support such an exploitative practice. The food we got was even less impressive. My Black Garlic Tonkatsu was fine, the pork was nothing to write home about. HOWEVER! My partner who is a vegetarian ordered the Vegan ramen, and the broth had SO MANY CHUNKS OF MEAT in it! Whether or not it was a mistake, the quality of the food should be checked to ensure people with dietary restrictions aren’t at risk. I really hope management of this restaurant gets their act together, I have always wanted a restaurant like this to thrive in Logan. It’s a shame that our first experience at Nara was this much...
Read moreFirst-time visitor, despite bad reviews, I still held out hope that the food might be good. HUGE fan of Ramen and have been to a few Ramen places across Utah.
Ordered both the Shio and Tonkatsu Ramen and Edamame Appetizer. We wanted to try a variety of the meats with our order (beef brisket, chicken, and beef ribs (2x)) on top of the pork that came with the Ramen to see what we liked best.
For Shio Ramen, the noodles were in a congealed lump, very difficult to separate without making a mess. The Chinese veggie (baby bok choi or whatever it was) was not edible, very bitter, and mushy before broth was added, so that wasn't the issue. The broth and sliced pork are good, at least!
The chicken was bland but good when dipped in the shio broth. The brisket was very dry and tough. My pups loved it, though, since I didn't like the texture. The beef ribs were barely any meat and 90% fat. Pretty gross and couldn't stomach it.
The Tonkatsu was meh at best. Much like the Shio, the noodles were a big mass. The best part was the pork, aside from that nothing all that remarkable, unfortunately.
Edamame was good, no complaints there.
The guy who directed me to where the food was was very quick and polite. The insulated bags were a nice plus!
Unfortunately for the price I paid and the quality received, we probably won't be...
