UPDATE: The Logan Utah cafe Rio has a serious problem with cleanliness. Just take a look behind the counter. Spilled food everywhere. All the workers are filthy, letting there sleeves and aprons drag in the food and then touch your food. The problem here, however, is NOT due to the hardworking employees as I'm sure the management will try and blame this review on the employees. The purpose of this review is not to attack The employees, most of which are friendly, honest people. This review is directed to the management running cafe Rio and particularly The Logan location. The employees are trying there best and are not being backed up by good management and direction. The older manager guy at the Logan location is a complete jerk, rude on all accounts. This man thinks he's some sort of cop to police customers and look down of them for taking advantage of available discounts, rewards programs, and free deserts for the customer survey on your receipt. Each time I've had the unfortunate luck to deal with this man I've been glared at for simply providing a discount QR code from the app, or filling out the survey for a free tres leches. Without any serious discount, I would never consider eating food of this quality served in a filthy location by a conceited and egotistic management. As a broke college student I'm forced to take what I can get sometimes. Therefore, I find myself returning to this place when I have at least a 50% discount because it then becomes one of the cheapest options in town. If something is not done about food quality, cleanliness, and management at this place cafe Rio will certainly suffer losses as regulars stop coming and broke students like me won't be able to force themselves to eat this trash even if they've got a large discount. Food quality at all cafe Rio locations has been decreasing at an exponential rate across all locations. Gone are the days when a nice old lady would pull a hot tortilla right off the grill for your plate. Gone are the days when you'd get a good portion of meat. All tortillas are now pre cooked, and placed in steamy plastic bags to sweat and get soggy. Prices have increased and portion size has decreased drastically. Don't be fooled by the high pile of soggy lettuce on your Pork salad. Look closer and realize that it has almost no meat now depending on who is working. Food quality depends heavily on who is working that night. Sometimes you luck out, other times you get shafted. Cafe Rio has always been Inconsistent. Not even close to the same quality as only a year ago, let alone a decade ago when it actually used to be good.

Café Rio 200 North Main in Logan: The Burrito Brothel of Broken Dreams Let me start by saying—I *want* to like this Café Rio. I really did. The name suggests something cozy, maybe even a little tropical, like a beachside taco joint where the guac flows like margaritas. What I got instead was a front-row seat to a culinary crime scene. Walking in, I was greeted by the smell of... something. Hard to say what. Maybe beans. Maybe regret. As I waited my turn and considered my order, I had plenty of time to admire the steam table—aka the Sad Buffet of Questionable Choices. Now, I’ve seen some things in my life, but watching a server scrape the last of the beans from a bean encrusted, stained steam table pan like she was trying to summon a genie was a new low. The sound? Imagine someone dragging a shovel across a sidewalk while muttering under their breath. This went on for what felt like a full minute. Then—without even wiping it out—she fished a fresh plastic bag of beans out of a giant pot full of other random plastic bags like she was choosing a winner in a very sad raffle, and dumped it *directly* into the same pan she had just been scraping like it owed her money. I audibly whispered, “Noooo,” like I was watching a horror movie as I realized my bean serving consisted of a mix of new and old beans / crusty bean scrapings. I imagined how many time this scene played out today. I wondered how many bags of beans had been dumped into this poor sad serving pan that was crying out desperate for a trip through the dishwasher. The food? Meh. Not terrible, not great. The tortillas were fine, the shredded chicken was… hot, I guess. But everything tasted like it had been made by someone who heard about flavor once in a podcast. The rice was confused, the beans though freshly dispensed from their plastic source were tired, and the salsa was there mostly for moral support. I *really* wanted this to be my new spot. It’s close to my house, the other Café Rios I’ve been to were really pretty good and the staff seem like they’re trying. But Café Rio, I can’t unsee what I saw. You’re officially on my “Never Again, Even If I’m Starving” list.

My original review 8 months ago was of the north Logan location that has now CLOSED. 5/5 This new location in downtown Logan gets a solid 2/5 ⭐️. Food: I got similar salad, but the rice was old dry, meat and beans crusted over and looked questionable, serving station pretty dirty. Grilled chicken dry, tortilla tasted like raw flour. They don’t give you as much salad dressing anymore. So… overall salad was dry. Atmosphere: Dining Music was loud AND the kitchen fiesta music was really loud too. Both were competing with each other. No tables were clean. 7 of 10 hot sauces were empty. Service: I was the only one in line - the guy greeted me with “hi, what do you want”. Very different from the last experience. I wasn’t able to customize my salad before the guy at the register asked me to pay. $16, for a grilled chicken salad and reg drink. Probably won’t go back to this location. Old review: If you love Mexican food and salads, this is the place! I got the chicken (pollo asado) tostada with ranch dressing, and my mom got the signature sweet pork salad with a vinaigrette dressing. 10/10! The staff was super friendly, and they sang a song when the couple behind us ordered nachos. You must try the mint limeade! 🤤 they also had other soda , lemonades, and Horchata. I love the bright colors and friendly staff.

The original north Logan location was great. No complaints there. Since the store moved it has been awful. Every time we have ordered salads there has been an inch of liquid just making everything soggy. We have to try to soak it up with paper towels or dump it out which doesn’t help a whole lot. Tortilla is always grossly soggy. The chips are super stale and chewy and the queso is always cold and lumpy. Correct me if I’m wrong but chips should not be floppy and bendy. Multiple times they have forgotten things in our order or told us they are out. For example, we received a promotion for free chips and queso available only that day and when we ordered our meals the queso was not included. We had to drive back and tell them they forgot part of our order to which they said they were out. Why was this not refunded until we brought it to their attention when they knew they didn’t include it in our order? Most recently we received a promo code for free chips and queso and when redeeming it, it only covered half the cost. So we still had to pay half price for soggy chips and cold queso. We have never once been able to get horchata as they NEVER have any made no matter what time of day we’ve gone. I don’t know how the quality of food and service has changed so much just by switching locations. This is the 4th or 5th time we’ve been completely disappointed by the quality of food as it’s nearly inedible. Tried to give them the benefit of the doubt but at this point it’s just a pattern of bad service and bad quality of food. If you’re craving a salad or anything from cafe rio, just go...
