River Grill At the Alisal — Restaurant in Lompoc

Absolutely a must for locals and tourists alike. A refreshing dining option away from the crowds and traffic on a busy Solvang weekend. You simply cannot beat the view of the hills and canyons from the patio on a sunny day... unless the huge cozy fireplace inside is more your vibe! The food is always spot on, fresh, and filling. Breakfast classics are available all day on the weekends including eggs benedict and loaded bloody Mary's, mimosas and a few other fun "breakfast cocktails". Lunch and dinner options are timeless and there's always something for everyone. Blue Plate Specials are fun and different every Thursday and Friday night during their Late Night seating. What I love most about River Grill is that it's great for so many occasions- brunch with the girls, a quick solo lunch, dinner with the family, or beers on tap while sitting at the bar during the game. Staff are wonderful and make sure you are happy and taken care of. Great establishment here...

The restaurant is absolutely beautiful place but my friend & I had to leave early due to waiting a very long time for our server to make her way to our table.

Aside from that what really soured our experience was there was an outwardly racist employee who did not know we could hear her speaking. She seemed to be presenting herself to be the restaurants social media content creator.

She was sitting at another table with her male parter and made a comment to him about moving seats on their table and slightly gesturing to us and saying, “…you don’t know what other people could have.”

That encounter made us extremely uncomfortable and forced us to make the decision to have to leave and give our business to a place that respects us.

We found this "hidden gem" while looking for a breakfast spot while visiting Solvang. This restaurant is about a mile south of Mission Drive and Alisal Road. It is not at Alisal Ranch, it is open to the public. If the weather is good, there is outside seating, overlooking the adjacent golf course. For the amount of people in the restaurant, service was slow. We ended up seating ourselves and someone brought menus. From this point on, service was good. The menu is not large, but everything was cooked to order and freshly made. We are putting this place on our list of places to eat, when we return...
