10.18.24 I love how I can go anywhere and if I google restaurants, the mighty powerful Google search engine will show me what's available in the area. I decided on Georgia's Restaurant as I have not had soul food in ages.

This is one of those restaurants where one orders from the board and is given a number, then food gets delivered/served at the table. The menu is clearly written, spacing of menu items is well done, and each of the menu options provides what's included or what sides to choose from.

Customer service: I was behind two gentlemen, with the older one using the pay system. Kudos to the older gentleman as he did not give up finishing his transaction. The younger gentleman did not appear to help, possibly because he is very patient in waiting, even though I waited, and waited.... I decided to be patient, too. The receptionist who took the order was just as patient I thought. Thankfully there was just me behind waiting... Customer service is pretty good, especially the one who took my order and checked in on me at the table - great smile adds to overall experience.

Atmosphere: Welcoming environment, pretty open inside and out, and clean tables.

Menu: Yes, soul food definitely. I decided on the blacked catfish and I opted for grits and collard greens. I also ordered strawberry lemonade.

A corn muffin with honey butter was served pretty quickly. It was pretty good. I probably should have asked for a lighter seasoning on the blackened catfish as it ended up to be a little strong for me but I ate it all - had to for the price. Pretty good if one likes really blackened catfish. I loved the grits. I could have had two servings of that. The collard greens were exactly how I remembered collard greens - a little bitter but it was good.

I'm not certain about the overall price as it seems to be a bit pricey. The rent and location, prices nowadays, kitchen and customer service staff are...

It's taken me weeks to try out Georgia's new location. I first tried during their soft opening but couldn't time it right. Tonight was perfect.

Ordering was a breeze, everyone is so welcoming and most importantly helpful. There weren't any staff that did not know and provide exactly what i needed whenever I made a request. I even appreciate that everyone on staff knew my name after I placed my order.

For soul food, you can't go wrong at Georgia's. It scratches that itch, it supplies that fix, it... OK, you get the point. We had catfish and ribs tonight.

The catfish was crunchy on the outside and cooked well on the inside. It gave me that feeling when my grandmother used to fry up some unbelievably delicious fish and paired it with those succulent collard greens and oh so moist cornbread, yes! It took me back.

I don't eat ribs as often as I used to. My grandfather used to throw ribs on the grill every weekend, my expectations were high coming in to this. Georgia's. Does. Not. Disappoint. So many joints can make fall-off-the-bone ribs, can't nobody (yes, that's a double negative for you grammar police), can't nobody replicate the flavors bestowed upon these succulent ribs.

A soul food dish is not complete without sides. And they are judged just as rigorously as the main dish. So when I tell you, "MAN, their sides are on point!" That means Georgia's side dishes compliment their entrees exquisitely well and provide a well balanced plate.

It's difficult to find such an all around great experience for soul food in the area. My heart gets warm thinking...

Maybe this was a bad day to visit. I wanted to love this place, but the food ordered (smothered porkchops, greens, and mac n cheese) was just not that good. I went with my sisters and they didn't really enjoy their food either. I will say this... it was extremely busy, and it seemed like they only had a total of 3-4 workers manning the cash register and delivered food/tending to guests, which unfortunately wasn't enough. They forgot to bring parts of orders to the table like pie and to go orders, and had to be asked multiple times. It took an hour to receive a slice of pie, and the only reason i was able to get it was because i stood back in line behind customers to asked for it again, which at that time a girl was there and left the register to get it for me. The original guy at the cash register was not focused, started starring out the window at a woman passing by while I was trying to order and was very distracted, tried to end my order early before I was finished, and ultimately was the start of what was a bit of chaos. He switched to waiting the tables, and ultimately didn't convey a lot of things we were waiting on to the next person (he basically left because his shift was over and didnt communicate with anyone so we had to ask again for what we were waiting on after waiting awhile.) I do think today was a bad day to visit (Sunday), and they were just busy. I will maybe give it another try in the future and will change my review then, if it happens to...

I went for breakfast on a Saturday morning at the Long Beach location around 11 am. It was myself and my 2 year old daughter. You place your order at the counter when walking in and pay at that time as well. There weren't many options for kids. The only thing available for her was chicken strip and fries. I ordered the shrimp and grits. I also got a lemonade and a strawberry lemonade. The hostess asked if I wanted cheese on my grits, and I said, of course. I spent around 45 dollars, including a tip. We had to sit outside where it was raining lightly due to the fact that the inside is pretty small. Thankful we really didn't feel any rain drops. Outside has a sheer top covering you, which I'm sure is great on hot days. Food came out, and it all looked great. Presentation wise 10 out of 10. The tastes of the strips were pretty bland. My daughter took 2 bites and was done. She ate her fries. My shrimp and grits were also so so. The cheese was literally sitting on top of my grits and not mixed in as normally it is. The shrimp were nice and juicy. The grits themselves weren't creamy. A little bite was still left in them, so they could've been cooked longer. The normal sauce/rou that goes on the shrimp and grits was pretty blah. The corn bread served as your welcome bread was ok. All in all, would I come back yes if someone else is paying. I would then try other things on the menu.
