I used to be a skeptic of Handel's Homemade Ice Cream, questioning the long lines reminiscent of a Disneyland experience. However, after finally giving it a shot, I can understand the hype. I opted for the vanilla with Oreo cookies, and let me tell you, it was a delightful surprise. The vanilla base was rich and creamy, beautifully complemented by the crunch of Oreo cookies. The cone didn't stand a chance – I devoured it! On the other hand, my partner went for the horchata flavor. While my experience was mostly positive, I found the horchata ice cream a tad too sweet for my liking. Taste preferences vary, though, and some might appreciate the sweetness. If you manage to catch Handel's Homemade Ice Cream without the notorious long line, I would definitely recommend giving it a try. The flavors are inventive, and the quality of the ice cream speaks for itself. However, brace yourself for the possibility of encountering a lengthy line that wraps around the building. Despite the wait, the ice cream's deliciousness might just make it worth your while.

Double scoop with dipped waffle cone bowl / graham central station, black raspberry chunk - 5 🌟! I was coming back from San Pedro and it was hot out. A craving for ice cream came out of nowhere and Handel's seemed like a great spot to get my fix. They have a lot of SoCal locations but until this visit I had heard of them but not stopped by. I am glad I got the chance! They had a nice line the entire time I was there so folks definitely know they are legit and now I can count myself as one of them. They have a ton of flavors but the graham central and black raspberry caught my eye. I was very happy with both but the graham central in particular was something I hadn't seen before and it was so good. Next time I stop at a Handel's I'll probably grab it again even with their huge variety of flavors. I made a huge mess of myself with this ice cream but no regrets at all. I had a bottle of water and I used half of it to rinse off. Lol.

What a great ice cream experience! ...we eat a lot of ice cream and so were quite pleased that a local friend took us to this place on a warm afternoon after having a nice lunch at The Attic over in another part of town. However, do not let the long line deter you. It moves quickly and we had our ice cream in no time. I tried the dark cherry and the pineapple upside down cake, my wife got a couple other flavors, and our lactose-free friend had the pomegranate sorbet and the mango sorbet. All were excellent but the sorbet is what really surprised us. I would never choose that over ice cream, but the flavor of both was excellent and the smooth creaminess of the mango was surprising and a nice treat for a sorbet. Their ice cream is all house-made, which makes a big difference. We always ask if a place makes their own and try to support places like this that are not buying from a mass factory producer.

I love Handel's, hence the love handles.

Receiving 2 Handel's Homemade Ice cream 1 year Anniversary free single scoop coupons, I needed no other motivation to swing by for some creamy frozen happiness. Now, when Handel's says single scoop, they're really saying "Joke's on you, Fatty Arbuckle. You're getting 3 scoops. You're welcome!"

Spouse like a House- Malted vanilla ice cream w/ Reese's Peanut Butter ripple & chocolate covered pretzels. Nothing short of amazing, the Spouse like a House was a delectable combination. The crunch of chocolate covered pretzels, the fat from the Reese's Peanut Butter ripple, and that unique flavor malted milk is known for.

Hungry for more, I came by the very next day to redeem my other coupon.

Heavenly Hash- Chocolate ice cream w/ chocolate covered peanuts, chocolate chips & marshmallow ripple. A chocolate lover's dream, the Heavenly Hash overloaded my chocolate meter.

Service was good. The line was long during my first visit, but proceeded at a steady pace. Being an old fashioned ice cream parlor with pickup windows, there's no interior seating. There are a few places to sit outside, with the Hangar being the most optimal, for A/C & people watching. Handel's Homemade Ice Cream is located across Ulta Beauty, behind Wahoo's Fish Taco.

It's hard to be mad when you're eating ice cream. Handel's serve up some hard to beat ice cream. The only minor criticism I can muster, are the scant vegan options. Not that I'm vegan, mind you. It's just being lactose-intolerant, I expect the consequences to creep up later (if you know what I mean). It would be perfect if Spouse like a House & Heavenly Hash had coconut milk alternatives. Still, Handel's has legit ice cream &...

I decided to bring my son out to Long Beach for some summer fun. We are from Yorba Linda and frequent the Handel’s on Yorba Linda Blvd. I am truly mind blown at what I experienced today. Alani claimed to be the manager on staff, I asked to speak to her since I ordered a strawberry shake and had to wait over 25 min for it. When I arrived I was the second person in line so I didn't understand what the reason for this long wait could be. Mind you it is 87 degrees today and I can see inside the ice cream shop and see the workers laughing and joking. When I spoke to Alani she was unprofessional, racist and arrogant. All I was looking for was to share some feedback, if a shake is going to take this long to make perhaps the customer can be notified at the time of purchase so we can wait in the car with the AC on or change our order. I know this is not the way Handel’s treats customer as I have been a customer for many many years. So disappointed at the way I was treated today and I hope no one ever has to encounter this again. Alani BE BETTER, SET AN EXAMPLE FOR YOUR STAFF OR FIND A JOB THAT YOU ACTUALLY FEEL PASSIONATE ABOUT, stop treating customer with a...

11/13/2020 approximately 5:38pm. Ok. The ice cream is very good and they give generous portions. I love the Banana Cream Pie. A+ on flavor and quality. I had been going all the way to Redondo Beach to get me some so I was excited to get one so close. The issue I had was the wait. I don’t mind waiting a reasonable amount of time for good ice cream. I waited at least 25 minutes in line but that did not bother me. What frustrated me was seven people working inside and only one person was taking orders while four were in a corner chit-chatting and the line of customers wrapped around and reached the second window (for online orders). The other two were working( scooping and washing) but seemed to getting distracted by chit-chat group who moved from one area to another. Probably the group was dealing with a work related issue or their shift was over but come on guys, have some consideration for your customers. There were two couples who got in line behind me and left because the line did not move. I will give this place another chance and hope to remedy this poor rating. It will be a shame if I have to keep driving to Redondo Beach when there is one these...
