Coffee is the worst tasting I have ever had. I with two friends couldn't drink any of the coffee's served. The milk used was most likely the cause, it was rancid. Any barista that doesn't know their ingredients isn't a barista but a coffee button pusher. A barista does far more than press buttons on an espresso machine. They understand coffee. The service is minimal....not the waiter's fault...no training...manager's fault as is the lack of Barista knowing what he is doing and also not shortchanging the community with a lackluster restaurant in a outstanding facility. (P.S. in response to management's reply)...I did tell the waiter the drinks were all (all 3 of them) were undrinkable and possibly contaminated with spoiled milk. We also told him we would needed the bill for the coffee's but were not staying to eat brunch as we usually do. The couple I was with and they being young, did not want to cause any disturbance and are prone just to walk away (and as we have discussed later and to never return). That is not my solution. Being part of the community, I watched the buildings renovation, I was excited about the opening. I don't want a failed restaurant...I want it to be successful because I live here and I loved the restaurant since it opened, especially the food, ambiance and the patio. It is perfect for 2nd Street. The reason I wrote the critique, and this is the first one I have ever public ally written is because I want to go back. And because I grew up in restaurant business I think it is not the Waiter's fault or the Barista's, it is the Management by not giving adequate training. Please respond with a note that you have read this and I will DELETE it immediately. I don't know how to contact you directly but I believe top management needs to address...
Read moreThe Food: The food was okay. We were trying to find a place that reminded us of Italy. We’ve kept an open mind tho. The one thing that got us to come here was that their menu has some truffle options. In Italy, we tried this restaurant that was known for truffle and everything there was so good. The pizzas here cost between $25 and $30, but the truffle pizza was $65. The seasoned fries are $10 and the truffle fries are $25. The truffle on the truffle fries looked fried and minced… it was not worth the extra $10 nor the double price of the pizza in my option. I also think the pizza needs to be more crispy on the bottom. Again, we are comparing to half a dozen pizza places we’ve tried in Italy in various cities. The drinks we got were stiff but the blending of the flavors need work.
What we ordered: Zucchini Flowers $22 Arancini $20 Spaghetti Cacio & Pepe $28 Tagliatelle Pesto $27 Truffle Porcini Pizza $65 Truffle Fries $25
The Service: The service was good. Our server checked in on us a good amount of times.
The Atmosphere: The restaurant has a nice ambience. We went for an early dinner so it wasn’t too crowded. But I would imagine on a Saturday night, it would be more lively. They do have areas for a larger group.
Overall: It was a decent place to go to. Based on what we ordered, we probably wouldn’t go back for the food. I would not recommend the truffle options. They have a decent wine list if you’re into that.
Parking: There’s public paid parking behind the restaurant. There is also a public paid parking on the street. It’s free after 7 PM I believe. And then you could park near the neighborhood for free. I would read those signs though to make sure.
Total Cost: $266.30 +tip

Read moreI have been going to your Belmont Shore restaurant since it opened in January. The food and service has always been excellent both for take out and dining in.
Unfortunately, that wasn't the case this past Saturday. I placed a phone order on Saturday, October 19th at 5:20pm for meatballs, salmon dinner, side of bread and the beet salad. When I placed the order I let the person know that I was allergic to balsamic and would like the citrus dressing instead. When he read the order back I reminded him that there couldn't be any balsamic on it since I'm allergic to it.
When I got the order home there was balsamic on the salad. I called and spoke with the same person I placed the order with, I believe his name was Carlos and said that I had requested no balsamic when I placed the order and there was balsamic on the salad. He very nicely said he would credit the salad back to my account. I then said that since I was allergic to balsamic and it could have been a problem if I had eaten it. He replied you should make sure you say that when you place the order next time. I said that I had told him I was allergic and he replied that I hadn't said that to him. When I reiterated that I had said it he continued to argue with me insisting I hadn't. My friend who was in the room when I placed the order got on the phone and explained to him that I had said it. He became more agitated and hung up the phone.
We have always enjoyed the food and the service has always been perfect, but after this experience I don't know that I'll be returning. As you know food allergies are serious and at least I saw the balsamic before I ate the salad.
Also, the cost of the salad was never credited back to my card as the person said they...
