The first time we ate here was during its second week of opening. We ordered the Wagyu set for two, sushi, and some drinks. There were some hiccups (still working things out Iâm sure) and we decided to give it another try. Our waiter was exceptional the first time and really went out of his way, the vibe is on point, and we wanted to try more items. Since then I have returned 3 times with my husband, girlfriend, and neighbors. The last 3 times we ordered the Premier set for 2 and it was a lot of food. They changed a few things around- each person gets cucumbers and kimchee, they give a lot more cabbage salad, and instead of the chilled tofu you get deep fried tofu cubes topped with bonito flakes atop a sweet sauce. It ends up being a lot of food now which did not seem like the case the first time we went. The shrimp with the ponzu butter is a great start, followed by the filet mignon medallions, short rib (delish!), spicy pork with lettuce wraps, and pork belly. Last night when we went, we had to check-in with how many more meat courses we were getting since we were so full. Each time we have had exceptional service and the food has always been so good. I love the garlic noodles and shoyu broth too. Hits the spot each time. Iâm happy we have a Japanese BBQ style place so close to the house. Itâs fun going with a group of 4 too and would like to go with a larger...
Read moreIn short, food was alright, but too expensive for the quality (there's way too much competition for asian bbq/sushi). Service was good, but not above and beyond. And the place was decently decorated.
Located nearby the main hangar of LBX, the place sports an eye-catching chef's knife as part of the title design. This would be my wife and I's second visit for dinner. Our first visit during soft opening offered a similar underwhelming experience, but was chalked up to the staff still finding their bearings. We wanted to give a second chance.
The place wasn't crowded, and the staff was very courteous. The decor is appealing, sporting a modern aesthetic. We ordered both sushi and some bbq. The food was aright, but if you've ever dined often in the LA/OC counties, you'll know that there's tons of great sushi and asian bbq places around. Unfortunately this place is not one I would recommend unless you happened to be in LBX already and didn't feel like driving to nearby areas. The biggest letdown is after getting the bill, the price was similar to those AYCE places. This would be acceptable if the quality of the food was superior in comparison, but I would not be confident to say that this...
Read moreIf I could give this place zero stars, I would. From the moment we walked in, we were treated with nothing but disdain by the waiterâDavid, I believe his name was. He was shockingly rude, acted like we were an inconvenience just for showing up, and made zero effort to be even remotely professional.
There wasnât a single other customer in the restaurant, which in hindsight, shouldâve been the first red flag. Now we know why.
The shishito peppers were limp, old, and looked like theyâd been microwaved from last weekâs leftovers. Absolutely no flavor or freshness. The green tea? Served with a sad little tea bag. At a Japanese restaurant. I wish I were joking.
And donât even get me started on the pricesâcompletely unreasonable for the subpar food and insulting service. Honestly, this place should be embarrassed to call itself a restaurant. Save your money and your sanity. Go literally...
