UPDATE TO BELOW REVIEW- spoke to the owner, he explained everything in DETAIL about the food regulations. Made great points on why the server was not allowed to package the food to go. Will DEFINITELY be returning, and most likely will have my bridal shower here. As stated, food was phenomenal AS USUAL, and now communicating with the owner about the situation made me LOVE this restaurant even more!!
Came here multiple times and always had a great experience. So we booked my sisters baby shower here, from 12-3pm.. food was excellent, as usual. However we had SO MUCH food left, lobster mac and cheese, chicken francese, salmon, veggies, penne with vodka sauce, etc. They took all the food to the back around 2pm (I was thinking they’d be packing it and bringing it back out). After about 15 min, they started bringing the cheesecake desert out, but none of the food they took away. I asked a server if they were still packaging the trays, in which he responded “no, we have to throw it away because of health regulations.” I was annoyed (and he could tell), because there was so much left, and no one even mentioned “would you like to ask your guests if they’d like another plate because we are going to throw everything away”, they literally just took the food in the back and dumped it. About 20 min later the server came up to me and said “we put food in a bag for you.” I was so grateful, because I really was annoyed they threw about 7 half trays of food away. I open the bag and it’s 3 small containers… one with potatoes, another with veggies, and the last with buttered noodles. I’m very aggravated for multiple reasons. 1. We paid THOUSANDS of dollars to be here for 3 hours, and you would think they’d come up to us BEFORE they “threw away” all the food we paid for and make sure it was okay to trash it or ask “would you like us to wrap these trays?” 2. Obviously I was lied to about “we can’t give food to go for health reasons” because I was then given some food to go. Also they gave us boxes for people to take cheesecake home. Just made no sense. 3. We were given the SIDE food and desert to take home, when we had PLENTY of dinner food left. Are they going to reserve the lobster Mac and cheese, chicken francese, salmon, etc., because it was more expensive, and that’s why they only gave the cheaper things in a small container to go? I was thinking about having my bridal shower here, but after this experience, I don’t think I’d even go back for dinner. Ver disappointed how they...

Read moreThis is our third season coming to Rooneys for their Sunday brunch which we have always felt has been the "Gold Standard" for what a brunch should strive for, yet it has managed to become even better this year. Perhaps it's time to call their brunch the "Platinum Standard."
We returned for the first buffet of the season this past weekend and had the pleasure of spending time with Darell, who I believe is the General Manager, who came to our table to say hello. I'll talk more about that conversation in a moment.
The array and quality of food that comprises this buffet are off the charts. It has gotten better with each season. I would recommend going to Rooney's website to read their brunch menu, but it includes a selection of pasta salads, sandwich sliders, chicken and waffles, seafood selections, eggs/sausage/bacon, and a carving station that features stuffed pork loin and Korean BBQ. This year, sushi was added to the menu.
If all that is not enough, you can order items off their kitchen menu that include Eggs benedict, pancakes, and salmon. On top of all that, a complimentary mimosa and coffee are included with the meal.
Two years ago I wrote a Google review praising the buffet but criticizing the fact that the dessert offerings were lacking. Well, someone listened to that feedback. Last year a soft-serve ice cream bar was added with an array of toppings. Additionally, they offer cakes, brownies, chocolate mousse parfaits, cannolis as well as a chocolate fountain with dipping snacks.
The striking thing about this buffet is the quality of the food is first-rate. Everything is fresh. Nothing tastes as if it were made the night before and reheated (which is a problem we saw with the Sunday brunch at McCloones located right across the street). In our conversation with Darell, he attributed that quality to everything being prepared that morning in their kitchen. Even the coconut cake tasted bakery-fresh.
Our next...
