simply greek restaurant & bar — Restaurant in Long Branch

Let me start off by saying I am Greek. Not only am I Greek, I love to cook and have owned my own restaurant. The food here is a joke. I guess for Americans it would be ok because they dont know any better. We ordered grilled octopus for an appetizer...which was $16 dollars btw. Much to our surprise, approx 3-4 min later, the server comes to serve us the octopus. My husband, who is a Chef, made a remark saying that its definitely not fresh. They brought it out too quickly. Octopus takes time to grill. Not only was it lukewarm, it was dry as can be and the serving was a joke. I cannot believe they charge $16 for this little piece of dry lukewarm octopus!!! Ridiculous!!! Of course we sent it back because we were not about to eat something that wasn't fresh and cooked to order. Awful! Then we ordered their version of Greek Fries which is suppose to have oregano and lemon. These fries were not only frozen but they had an awful coating and whoever prepared them just threw all the oregano on 2-3 fries in the center... but wait... that's not all... there was NO LEMON!!! When I asked for lemon, they brought us lemon juice instead of fresh lemons. This place is a disgrace to the Greek community. It's a shame that they take so much advantage of their customers because they dont know any better. They are way over priced and the food they serve isn't even fresh or anywhere near what Greek food should taste like. We were going to have dinner there, but after our disappointment with our appetizers we were afraid to try their platters. So we asked for the check and left. They either need to find new cooks who care how the food comes out or hire a manager that knows the quality of they order. I'm sorry but this was our first and last visit to this place....

Service is an absolute nightmare!!!! Food is only somewhat decent but the manager is so rude and disrespectful that I will not return. I was served food with hair inside and when addressed this with my server and the manager in private (didn’t want to upset my friends) I was told it’s my hair. My food was served and I noticed this before eating within 2 minutes of it being at my table. Our “Greek fries” where cold and I asked for new ones since our 2 orders were not touched and when they came back I was served regular fries, no lemon and oregano, I asked the server If we had the right order because I ordered grape fries, And her answer was, they did not put the lemon in the oregano because it makes them cold.They changed my order and didn’t even offer the sauce in the side. I then asked for the lemon and oregano on the side. Our beverages were never refilled. Our food was cold and had hair in it. Our server never came back with extra napkins or to ask how is everything else. After paying a $252 bill, I walked out upset and expressed my feelings to the Manager, since I was now a paying customer, for him to hear about our experience His answer was, he didn’t like my attitude and turned and walked away. Never again!!!! I will never come back I have been a loyal customer since over 5 years but after this, nope...

Zero!!! I had never left negative reviews for any restaurants. But☝️Today My family and I had very bad experience. We ordered food that we always have at this place , but this time it came not edible it looked good but smells like sweaty old lady and taste very bad!!!! Full of onion instead of meat. I spoke to a waitress and then "manager" came up to see why we are complaining but after we told him what was our problem he just turned around and walked away without even offering to change our food.We had to return two main courses and got nothing back.When we asked for check and they included those two portions of food that has been returned. Again we had to see that lousy manager , who wasn't happy about our offer to take off those two meals. He started telling us that we ate everything and trying to get away by not paying for our meals, he started throwing his temper tension and cursing on us.Very unprofessional person running the store, he has no skills or manners to be a manager. He was threatening by calling the police on us and shouting that we stole his disgusting food . The bottom line is, instead of apologizing to us he told us "If you don't like our food don't come here." Unfortunately it's not the same "Greek to me "...
