This is normally a family favorite place to eat and our family has been very generous in showing appreciation to the staff in tipping (as everyone should) with good OR bad service!
We understand that times are sensitive with seating and mask wearing, but customer service is key when dealing long time returning customers.
Here’s what happened: We walked in and there was no greeter to greet us, so we sat in a spot that we ALWAYS sit (next to the door), one of us was on oxygen and needed to sit fast. Then the waitress came up and in a very unprofessional, hostile and rude way told us “YOU NEED TO HAVE A MASK ON AND NEED TO WAIT TO BE SEATED”... we apologized and said that the guy on oxygen needed to sit because if he’s standing too long he’d pass out... her reply (again in a very rude manner) was “IT DOESN’T MATTER... YOU NEED TO FOLLOW THE RULES!”
As much as we loved eating at this Palmeras, we won’t be returning!
We understand she was delivering a message and enforcing a “current policy”, but the treatment we received from her after being longtime returning customers from a waitress that had served us many times we asked “if she treated us like this.. how is she treating new customers?” So we left and didn’t eat, so that is why we have made the decision to not return.
The place was empty at the time and we were trying to support a local business but it seems that customer service isn’t a top priority during these troubled times with the wait staff.
So we went to the Armadillo in La Selle Co and we were treated like family (no masks needed).. it was worth the 30 mile drive!
Hopefully they get it...
Read moreWe ordered a take out meal from Las Palmeras Saturday. Said we would pick it up 5:30 pm. My husband, Ken, entered the restaurant and announced his name and pick up time. A staff member gave him the bag of food. When we took out the meal, it did not appear to be what we ordered. The drive to the restaurant takes 15 minutes one way. We ate the meal handed to Ken. I did not enjoy mine. We sought the tag that came on the bag. It was not what we ordered. We had ordered more expensive meals, I called the restaurant twice and finally was told our order was there and for us to pick it up. There was no way we were going to drive another 1/2 hour and besides we were hungry and ate some of the order. The problem now is we gave them our credit card and put on a 20% tip. The order received was a lesser amount with no tip. I have not received a call from the manager and am unhappy that they wish to keep the higher priced, plus tip meal. This was the first time we ordered there and probably will be the last. Diane Wood,...
Read moreLas Palmeras offers good quality Mexican food in a simple dining room at a really reasonable price. After having been several times, it was great to have some of the staff start to know us by name. And if you watch when folks come in the door, you’ll see that the staff really makes an effort to know and great their customers by name. The menu is large and has a lot of options for combinations to fit any type of hunger and food desired. The kids really enjoy the cheese enchiladas, but be sure to ask for them without onions unless your kids are a bit more adventurous. The tacos and tostadas are also a favorite for the kids. I feel like we have eaten across most every category on the menu and never had a bad dish. And considering that most items are in $8-10 range, you can afford to be adventurous and try several dishes. Their house margaritas are a bit small, but they taste great. And on Fridays they are only $1.50. So if you are looking for quick, inexpensive Mexican in a family friendly environment, be sure to check...
