This store is always great, I come in regularly for my home businesses. However I am hoping a manager sees my review, because this feedback is very crucial to keeping your store running well. Today I met the rudest, most dismissive, and pointedly apathetic clerk I have encountered here or anywhere. Her cashier number is 2028695.
As I approached her counter where she was writing in a notebook, in the middle of a task, she let out an upset sigh, dropped what she was doing and turned towards me as I set my shopping on the counter. At this point she actually rolled her eyes.
She struggled to type her code in and start the transaction, all the while never having said, “Hello”, “How are you?”, “Did you find everything alright?”, etc etc. usual conversation in a store. She did not even bother to ask if I had a staples card number (I did and entered it). She started to scan and ring up the items.
I watched her face closely at this point and still she did not speak. I saw a look of distress, anger, frustration, a flat look of indifference, and even her talking under her breath in a disgusted fashion.
After I paid she finally uttered her first words:”Would you like a bag?” To which I replied cheerfully, “Yes, please!” She bagged me up, and out the receipt inside the bag.
Perhaps she is having a bad day…Oh well! My mom just died and I still make the effort to be courteous to strangers in a three minute transaction. At least the basic level of what your job expects you to do, is all you are required of.
As much as I do not want to say anything, I also feel like it needs to be known that you have an employee who absolutely does not represent any level of service I have ever had in your store. Not sure what is going on with her. I almost wanted to ask if she was okay? She seemed to be growing a tantrum and being passive aggressive but why at me? I inconvenienced her while she was the counter person and that was her job as well as whatever task she was on.
At least place someone who can handle pressure and customers at the counter, and she could do other tasks (god forbid a person sees her in store and asks for help!).
Short of calling to complain, I am just hoping that there is some attention to these reviews and someone...
Read moreToday I dropped off two computers to be recycled. I read on the website that you can drop them off for free so they don’t end up in a landfill. I called the store a couple hours before I left just to double check. The woman on the phone said yes they would take pretty much anything but TVs. After carrying these dinosaurs down two flights of stairs and hauling them into town I brought one in and the woman said just to set it on the counter as I went to get the other one. When I brought the second one in a guy told me to go take them to the cashier. When I got there a guy yelled at me in front of other employees and customers and told me that they don’t take them. I told him I had just called to confirm that they did and also read it on the website. He insisted that they didn’t and that I had to take the computers back with me. The other cashier said she was the woman on the phone and said she did tell me I could. The guy continued to argue with me in front of everyone and seemed to start getting annoyed. He then changed his story and said they just don’t have anymore room for them. And that he had stuck a sign up saying they weren’t taking anymore today even though I was told to bring them in two hours earlier (I’m assuming he stuck that sign on the door after he found out his employee had told me to bring them in) He then acted like a child and threw his hands up in the air and said “Fine just leave them I’ll figure out what to do with them”. Made me feel like I had hugely inconvenienced him. I’ve worked in customer service my whole life. That is not how you treat a customer. And if he was the manager that is definitely not how a manger is to remedy a situation. The right way to handle that would have been. “Yes ma’am. Please just set them right there and we will take care of it. Thanks and have a great day. “ And I would have walked out and not thought anything different. Instead I was made an example in front of everyone and was yelled at. What a shame. I walked out and told him I won’t bother him with bringing anything else into the store. Nor will I bother him with anymore of my...
Read moreSo I ordered a computer, and it took over two weeks for it to come from another store an hour away, and when I opened it up, it was broken in two different places. I took it back and they offered me another one, but a lesser one because they were "completely out of that model" I guess meaning that it was the last one available through staples...ever? So that didn't entirely make sense, and that was all that they were willing to tell me. They gave me a fair price though, so that was nice. The customer service was pretty good, my biggest issue is with the computer I bought from them still has a fundamental issue with it; the keypad doesn't work at random times. It just stops working and have to give it ten or so minutes and then it will start again. Really inconvenient and quite frustrating. I asked what they could do about it, and they want me to pay for shipping for a defective product that wasn't what I initially ordered. And then potentially pay for the repairs? It was too much to be worth it. And that was all they were willing to do. So my issue isn't with the people themselves but more so the company and the support they provide for their stores. Overall, thanks but no thanks. I'll go somewhere...
