I used to have brunch every Sunday for the last year without fail, been a customer for over decades before that. I looked forward to it... Unfortunately, though the new staff has been excellent, the owners and management do not seem to care about customer loyalty. When I approached the front desk to put my name in, waited patiently for the young lady to take my name down, she ignored me, looking directly at the NEXT couple to arrive and taking their information down and subsequently seating them long before me and my guest. Both parties of 2, though the newcomers were more welcome. Rude does not begin to describe this behavior.
When I mentioned this to both the person taking down names and, whom I'm fairly certain is the owner's wife, I got only the simple reply "sorry to hear that". Nothing more. Skip ahead to when I paid for our meal, I mentioned how our order was mistaken by the woman who normally brings out everyone's food (not the server/waiter himself, who, like 2 other long time staff I know, was excellent) and how I've "given this place a chance for 8 weeks, but will now have our regular brunch somewhere else due to the severe downturn the service (mainly by the front desk) has been" Again, from that same owner's wife/head manager, the reply was a quick and simple "well, I'm sorry to hear that". No assurances to get better or ANY gesture to "make it up to you", just "sorry" and run my credit card.
The food hasn't changed in quality, I'm just not willing to pay over $40 for 2 people to have a regular Sunday brunch and get snubbed trying to get a table as if we didn't matter. Certainly not as much as all the newcomers to Longmont. Several of the staff I enjoyed talking with and who were VERY welcoming, with things like "Nice to see you again" and "you're here every Sunday, aren't you!" always with a smile, have left, I no longer wonder why.. Just no loyalty there anymore, so I'm taking my...
Read moreLucile's was having a normal Satuday when we went, which means it was packed. Although there were about 20 people waiting for a table when we arrived, most of them belonged to one group. While waiting the 20 min or so it took to get our table, we were entertained watching as Lucile's staff began depositing various pieces of furniture, first a table, then a couple of chairs, then another table, a couple more chairs out in front, eventually putting it all with a picnic table in order to seat the large group together, including an older lady in a power chair. The whole time the staff was smiling, keeping up some friendly banter with various people in the group, and acting as if this was just business as usual. Having not been there before, I have no way of knowing if it was or not, but I was certainly impressed with how simple and normal they made it all seem, as if they were not inconvenienced in the least to do it. Once we were seated, we ordered beignets for the table, which I thoroughly enjoyed with an excellent cup of coffee. The egg dishes my dining companions ordered looked beautiful, and were quite good according to them. My Pain Perdu was great and the Praline Sauce for it was amazing, not overly sweet like syrup often is. And I certainly enjoyed the Lousianna Sausage, with it's bit of spicy heat. My only complaint was not getting to linger over a second cup of coffee, but that was not because of anyone at Lucile's but because my companions were anxious to get on with the day's agenda. I'm sure I will go back, but for my budget it is definitely in the occasional treat category, rather than a place to...
Read moreAs a Gulf Coast native, I had high hopes for my third visit to this restaurant, but unfortunately, it was a letdown once again. The food was bland, and I can confidently say it’s some of the worst tasting fare I’ve encountered. While it might appeal to those unfamiliar with authentic New Orleans cuisine, it falls far short for anyone who knows what real flavor is.
I ordered the shrimp and grits, expecting a hearty dish, but what I received was a disappointment. The grits were topped with tiny, unseasoned sausage pieces and an overwhelming cup of sweet red peppers that completely overpowered any potential flavor. The shrimp were poorly prepared and lacked the necessary seasoning, making the entire dish tasteless.
Additionally, I tried the beignets, which were extremely dense and nothing like the light, fluffy treats you find in New Orleans. They were a far cry from what I expected, leaving me even more disappointed.
To make matters worse, I had communicated specific requests to my waitress, asking to leave certain items off my plate, but those instructions were ignored. When I expressed my concerns to the cashier, I was met with indifference—no effort was made to involve a manager or address my dissatisfaction.
Overall, this restaurant may cater to those who have little experience with true Gulf Coast flavors, but as someone who knows and loves that cuisine, I cannot recommend it. If you’re looking for authentic taste, keep searching; this place won’t satisfy...
