& Waffles — Restaurant in Los Angeles

&Waffles at Lankershim Boulevard is only located 1,2 miles / for about 2 km and 7 minutes from Universal Studios Hollywood. Before enjoying our fun day at "the coolest place on earth" a.k.a. Universal Studios, firstly we stopped here to have an American breakfast. &Waffles is quite strategic where there is street parking and parking lot area beside it.

We came here on Friday morning around 9AM, and this small restaurant was crowded. We waited until got seated for about 7 minutes. They serve variant of American breakfast, such as Sausage & Eggs,

Ham & Eggs, Bacon & Eggs, Belgian Waffles, Pancakes, Omelettes, Sandwiches, Burritos, and many more. The waitress is so friendly and informative. She could explain us clearly about the menu. And as the common American restaurant, &Waffles also serves free cold iced mineral water.

Here are what we tried  :

Chicken Waffle Sandwich (USD 13.50) Served on two separate plates. The first plate  is a thick and tender crispy boneless chicken with two sunny side up eggs, whereas the second plate is the waffle with strawberry, sugar, whipped cream, and maple syrup. It is a good combination of savory and sweet taste.

Nutella Crepe Waffle (USD 10.50) A soft crepe filled with Nutella, sprinkled with sugar, chocolate paste, and whipped cream. This one also tastes great! I love the US Nutella with a dominant chocolate taste.

There is a photo spot on the wall outside &Waffles where is painted waffles in a couple of wings shaped with the text "LOS ANGELES LOVES &WAFFLES".

I thought this place was alright. It's nothing special. Perhaps because we have tasted melted butter (very few restaurants make their butter this way) and hot syrup on our waffles 🧇. Also, the place was somewhat smaller than I'd imagined. On top of that, finding parking here can be a little bit of a hassle when the place gets crowded. However, the customer service was great, food was served pretty quickly and the waiters were friendly 💯.

The food:

Waffles & Cajun Wings 🧇🍗 (6/10): The waffles we got were too crispy (some people probably prefer this). We love our waffles to be a little chewy. What really disappointed me was their chicken wings. These were very salty and the meat was dry.

Waffle Combo 🍳🌭🥓 (1/2 waffle) (7/10): The eggs and the bacon for this dish saved it. They were delicious and the eggs were a little wet (which improved the taste 👍🏻). I didn't like their sausage because, again, they were too salty for our liking.

Finally, the pricing was a bit more expensive than I had expected. For the same type of dish, we were paying $3 less for each dish in our favorite brunch place in West LA.

Overall, if you live close by, you can try it out, perhaps you will end up enjoying it more than I did since everyone's taste-buds are different. However, if you have to drive for more than 30 minutes just to get there, you are better off going somewhere else for your...

The place is small but it makes up for it in the big taste of the waffles. They were light and fluffy, soft on the inside with the perfect crisp on the outside. We ordered the Maddie Mouse pancake with bacon and scrambled eggs for our Granddaughter. Our Daughter ordered the Texas Style Chicken and Waffles, My Wife ordered the sausage and eggs plate with home fried potatoes. I ordered the Waffle combo which came with three eggs (scrambled soft) 2 pieces of bacon and two sausage links. The waffles are sprinkled with powdered sugar and fresh cut strawberries. The Bacon was cooked perfectly and the eggs were soft just like I like them. My Daughter's Texas Style Chicken was juicy, crispy and flavorful. My Wife enjoyed the bacon,she didn't care for the sausage links, I liked them thought so she switched with ease. Our Granddaughter enjoyed her bacon and strawberries and liked dipping her pancake in the warm syrup. The pancake was fluffy and had a good flavor. The staff was really friendly and attentive. The coffee was good and it hit the spot. All in all we enjoyed our experience this morning for sure and would recommend visiting this spot to anyone.
