Mumu Bakery Cafe — Restaurant in Los Angeles

I first discovered Mumu Bakery at Smorgasburg over by the warehouse district. I love taiyaki and knew I had to try fancy croissant dough taiyaki for dessert after seeing their pop tent in the far corner. While I admit I haven't tried their food beyond the taiyaki and a coffee, the light, fluffy, layered croissant dough sandwiched around a number of fillings is why I keep going back. That and it turns out that their brick and mortar is within walking distance from home. The taiyaki I've tried are red bean, nutella, custard and, because I was feeling saucy, the savory pizza option. All were satisfying and pretty easy to eat.

They also have various milks, like strawberry and banana, in addition to coffee and other more standard pastries. But all you really need are the croissant dough taiyaki. They make Mumu a worthy dessert destination on their own. And now...

ok the fish cakes (pastries) here are crack like how do they master the flaky perfection it blows my mind

I've tried Nutella, Apple Mango, Injeolmi, and Red Bean. Would recommend getting all of them. The Injelomi and Red Bean were probably my favorite and I wish there was an option with both of these mixed in one. Unlike typical fish cakes (Boonguhbbang), they use a flaky croissant-like crust, maybe comparable to a fruit danish. It's delicious and warm and crispy.

Also, their strawberry milk is pretty good. There are fresh cut strawberries and syrup inside. Tastes good and cute to look at. I'd recommend stopping by here for dessert- maybe walk over after having chinese food at Young King across the street. Pick up a few fishies in all...

People was nice but the mango slush taste so sweet n not like a real mango I didn’t like so I tossed it The taiyaki the red bean was not bad But the mochi was not good at all. If u don’t eat it when it’s hot not warm or when it is room temperature then the mochi inside is hard like a rock... it like they used old rice cake (mochi) bc if it was fresh it would not be hard when I wanted to eat it an hour later after I bought it. Totally disappointed. It all looks pretty n ao cute but that’s it for me...for the pics haha Won’t go again It just croissant n whatever stuffing inside u like thats smashed into a fish mold. N terrible mango slush
