Ana Maria's stall in the heart of the market offers a slice of authenticity that's hard to find elsewhere. Despite a slightly higher price tag, the quality and generous portions make it a worthwhile indulgence.
I recently had the pleasure of trying their carne asada sope and gordita, and I must say, they did not disappoint. Ana Maria's commitment to authenticity shines through in every bite. The flavors are bold, the ingredients fresh, and the execution flawless.
The carne asada sope was a delightful mix of savory and satisfying. The tender carne asada paired perfectly with the soft yet slightly crispy base of the sope. Topped with beans, crema, and guacamole, each bite offered a symphony of flavors that left me craving more.
The gordita, on the other hand, was a revelation. Stuffed with generous portions of carne asada, beans, crema, and guacamole, it was a handheld feast that exceeded my expectations. The combination of textures and flavors was nothing short of divine. However, be warned: this is not a sandwich you can tackle with your hands alone. A fork is definitely required to fully enjoy this culinary masterpiece.
While the prices may be a tad higher than other stalls in the market, Ana Maria more than makes up for it with the quality and quantity of their offerings. The portions are indeed killer, ensuring that you'll leave fully satisfied.
In conclusion, if you're in search of authentic Mexican cuisine that doesn't compromise on flavor or quality, look no further than Ana Maria's stall. Whether you opt for the sope, gordita, or any other offering on their menu, you're in for a treat that's sure to tantalize your taste buds and leave you craving more. Don't let the price deter you; this is one culinary experience that's well worth...
Read moreAna Maria's will complete my Carnitas Tour of the Grand Central Market. I suppose I can go and conquer all the Chinese food now since they also seem to be in abundance here too. As per my usual Carnitas Journey rules, I got my burrito with all meat and no fillers like rice and beans. I did add onions and cilantro though for good measure.
Ana Maria's is located adjacent to Roasts To Go right smack dab in the middle of the market. I usually always get my burritos to go and end up eating at the outside benches. Ana Maria's can also be called a place with big-ass tacos as same as some of its neighbors. Tacos cost $2.50, but usually have so much meat crammed in there that they give you extra corn tortillas to make a second taco. Well, that's the next journey because this one is all about carnitas burritos.
-=- Carnitas Burrito, all meat -=- $5.50. This price ties for least expensive. The size of the burrito seems to suffer a bit though, but keep in mind that you will still be stuffed. Carnitas wasn't the juiciest of the bunch but it was still satisfying after drenching it with salsa. In the tortilla department, nothing special. It wasn't toasted or grilled in a way that helped the flavor. A good buttering or crisp usually gets my favor, but sadly not here. They give you plenty of lime wedges. I just squeezed all mine into my salsas since they were all going on there anyway.
For the sauces, I can say that the red sauce goes down like tomato sauce, the kick comes after. It's pretty runny and the least thick, but that kick was something different than the rest. I did prefer the green sauce though since you get the same kick, but with...
Read moreI would give a five because most of the food I tried has tasted great, love that they have refills on aguas frescas but the last time we went they served our food to the other table, carne asada fries and nachos my husband noticed and said isn't that ours we had arrived way before them, she gave him kinda a mean look and said no, we heard the people at the table murmering saying I didn't order this did you, they were passing it around then the rest of our order was coming to them and they realized it was actually ours , gave us a new carne asada fries but ours was not supposed to not have chiles because the kids, but they started eating those already, but tried to give us the nachos I turned them down saying this is the one from that table and she brought it back to the kitchen I watched she set it on the counter and brought them back, my husband thinks she did not understand why I turned them down, and asked us you ordered nachos didn't you and put it on our table by now cold gave us the fries with the Chile's, my husband said we didn't want the Chile's and she took it back, but she actually just picked them off because it was still too spicy for the kids and we know she did because she forgot some. So that is why the 3 stars, not the food but because they made so many mistakes I probably won't be back, I don't know if the other people ate any or touched our food, it was cold as well, I don't like she was digging in the fries to remove the Chile's, we joked that she probably saved the Chile's too for the next person. Was disappointed because the mistakes were theirs we tried to correct them ,but we...
