I don't want to even give a one star but you have to in order to write a review. So I see this place on the list of vendors for grand central market. I go in last Friday evening and they aren't open. Join them on Instagram and find out they are opening the next day. Get there at 9 am and the market is busy, but not pbjla they have 8 or more people behind the counter doing nothing. We walk up and the owner tells us they will not be open until 11 am they are "soft opening". So we decide to check them out today, big mistake. You would think they have had a week of soft opening they would get their act together. Get there at 11 am they say 5 more mins, so we wait. Someone else walks up and now the tablet tapper is ready to take their order. But the manager sees the anger on my husband's face and tells the rapper to take him first. Now mind you there is no cooking only a toaster. But they have two people who "make the sandwich and put it in one toaster, then put it in a contraption to cut the crust off. Then another person to wrap the sandwich and hand it off to you. So 5 useless people in a booth to make a pb&j that my daughter could do at 4 yrs old. The bread was weak already tearing. The peanut butter and jelly were okay but not worth the $7. The 8oz. of bitter chocolate almond milk for $5. Way over priced I am guessing due to their outrageous overhead for the neon sign and amount of employees. So $25 later for both my husband and myself and it wasn't amazing let alone satisfying. So I went to Golden Road Brewery and ordered a vegan burger and avocado fritters to share, so much more worth our $25 because they actually cook. Cheaper to make your own pb&j at home with hearty bread, organic butters and jams. Get a half gallon of Almond milk for the price...
Read moreI live 2 hours away from this place and today was my 1st day visiting. I must say go on a Sunday it is very busy and very active.
The customer service was excellent. Each and every member greeted me with a smile almost every time I looked at them. They are very friendly and welcome selfies and pics with them. I Visited them and it just so happened today was their one year anniversary.
The sandwich I ordered was the old fashion. I must say the sandwich was very taste. It's not like your typical peanut butter and jelly sandwich, it is Pack with enormous flavor. My favorite part about the Old fashion sandwich was the Orange zest. You can really taste it. It was a very nutty and smooth sandwich. My only complaint was it taste a little dry only because I wish they were a little bit more Apple Jam, but that's just my preference.
I also ordered the purple chips. There's nothing too special about these chips, but I think it's really fun and tasty to eat something purple lol.
I gave this place 4 stars only because I wished for more Apple jam and they didn't give me a bag considering I have 3 things in my hand and another plate of food.
Also, in the video I viewed on Facebook, it's looked like it was oozing with peanut butter, that's not necessarily true. I did get peanut butter in my sandwich, but not as much as I was expecting.
I'm not really sure why some people give this place one star. This place should at least deserve 3 and a 1/2 stars. I spent $17 for 1 old fashion and one red eye sandwich (which I didn't eat my friend did) and blue chips. I will definitely come back to try...
Read moreIt was great to see that this place uses coconut sugar and the menu offers very nice variety of pb sandwiches, but...but I d like to emerge a hygienic habits of the staff. The girl was a very nice person, but she didn't change her gloves walking from cash desk to the corner where she was going to make my sandwich, with the same gloves she took a piece of bread and started to make it without any hesitation. Then other customer comes in the middle of this process. She comes to them and press the button on display, touches the screen with the same gloves. Then she turns back to make another sandwich meanwhile mine is toasting, then something falls on the floor and she picks it up with the same gloves. Then she hands me my sandwich...I didn't eat the outside bread and just ate the banana jam with peanut butter and chocolate chips ('Elvis' filling). It was not bad but I've totally refused to eat the bread because of the past events. That's not okay and I think should be addressed. So please, tell the staff there and pressure them to change their habits because their gloves are not for them or the fashion but for our food. I d gladly come back if this was changed. But till then I am not feeling safe to...
