Went to this place for dinner in February with my boyfriend when he moved into the area. It was great! The service wasn't STELLAR but enjoyable. Food was AHMAZING. The chicken dish had some of the best brussel sprouts I've ever had the pleasure of eating. And it was reasonably priced (check out their menu online! It's still the OLD one that we enjoyed.....) Flash forward to tonight. Everything about this place was bad. The hostess sat us next to the only other table in the area, yet there was plenty of room to spread out. Later, she sat a new table directly next to US, despite an empty dining area. The menu, once 12 pages long, is now a whopping FIFTY-TWO PAGES. And unorganized - starting with some permanent specials, entrees, lunch specials, then apps, then salads, then sandwiches, then lunch specials, then drinks. I guess they needed a duplicate of the lunch specials to remind you because you probably forgot them by page 43. And then we saw the prices. GOOD LORD. Everything on their menu on their webpage is at least $3 more expensive now. Some items even more. Inflation perhaps? Thanks, Obama. A panini with fries? TWENTY DOLLARS. My boyfriend's mother ordered a kids meal because she wasn't feeling well and getting over a stomach bug. The manager made it a point to come out and tell us that such behavior is normally not allowed, but he's going to grace us with permitting someone to order a smaller plate of food. I would understand if the rest of us weren't spending $20+ each. But we were. Then, a place that charges 20 bucks for a chicken salad, with the word "bakery" in their name, would presumably send out bread while waiting, right? Nope. And the butter came in little packets that you have to rip the top off of like at Denny's despite the high price of the mediocre food. And countless staff were walking around, drinking and eating on the floor, the manager coming out from the kitchen with his shirt unbuttoned (no visible chest, but a white undershirt that looked so professional), the lack of any of the staff near the exit saying thank you or good night - this place was a COMPLETE LET DOWN. Save your money. Save your time. You are in a city chock full of great food at great prices. This used to be my suggestion for both, and now I will never set foot in...
Read moreMy boyfriend and I recently moved to Hollywood and happen to be located close to this place! We decided to try I am happy to say that we have been back multiple times.
Guest Service: The very first time we came for brunch, Abraham was our server and right off the bat we were well taken care of. Abraham is friendly, welcoming and attentive. We had bottomless mimosas with our entrees and we never had to ask for refills. When we asked for extra pesto sauce for one of our dishes, we asked one of the runners. The runner brought us plain pesto and when Abraham saw this, he asked if we wanted the actual pesto cream sauce instead. Also, each time we are there, even if he is not serving us, he always says hi. This goes a long way. :D
Food: We usually get the salmon en croute. The salmon is always perfectly cooked to medium with the perfect amount of crispyness on the top - never over cooked. The puffed pastry underneath it is buttery and flaky. Then you got mashed potatoes. No complaints there! The dish is is topped off with a pesto cream sauce. I 100% recommend this to salmon lovers!!!
We recently tried the tilapia with mushroom cream sauce, which comes with a full potato, sliced. The fish was seasoned well. The potato could've been seasoned better. I think that if you decide to go with this dish, I would recommend asking for extra mushroom sauce to offset the taste.
I will be coming back here because the service never...
Read moreHi,
I was always intrigued by the crowds and festive ambiance whenever I walked by Aroma, so I tried it for dinner. The experience was incredibly poor, mainly because the wait staff is so poorly trained, if they are even trained at all, which I do not think that they are. Trying to explain what you want to eat or drink to some of the wait staff is nearly impossible. They seem to be very nice and well-meaning young folks, but it is apparent that none/few of them have ever been trained in waiting tables and some of them have a very poor command of the English language. At times, I felt like I was on the phone with those tech support people in foreign lands where explaining your problems is very, very painful. Getting our drink and food order in was so draining that we almost left. When we received the food, it looked nice, but there was nothing noteworthy about its taste. In fact, the food just was plain boring. I regrettably cannot recommend this place, as much as I wanted to. The experience was so bad, I will not return. I can have much better food and service at the nearby Indian or...
