I recently had the pleasure of dining at the Sunset Grill on historic Sunset Boulevard, and let me just say, it was an absolutely fantastic experience! From the moment I stepped in, I was greeted with warm smiles and friendly service from the owner and staff. The atmosphere was lively and vibrant, making me feel right at home. Now, let's talk about the cocktails. Oh boy, they were amazing! The mixologists at Sunset Grill truly know their craft. Each cocktail was expertly crafted, bursting with flavor and perfectly balanced. Whether you prefer a classic like a mojito or something more adventurous, their extensive drink menu has something for everyone. And let's not forget about the food. The culinary delights at Sunset Grill are simply divine. From the first bite to the last, every dish was a symphony of flavors. The menu offers a wide variety of options, from mouthwatering steaks to fresh seafood and vegetarian delights. No matter what your taste buds crave, you will find something to satisfy your appetite. But what truly sets the Sunset Grill apart is the passion and dedication of the owner. Their genuine care for their customers shines through in every aspect of the dining experience. From recommending the perfect dish to ensuring that everything is just right, their attention to detail is unparalleled. In conclusion, if you're looking for a dining experience that combines friendly service, incredible cocktails, and delicious food, look no further than the Sunset Grill on historic Sunset Boulevard. Trust me, you won't be disappointed.

I have thought that there is no Hungarian restaurant no more in LA area but boy was I mistaken! I was invited by the owner for a dinner and it was more satisfying than I could have imagined. The stuffed cabbage was magnificent, something I never tasted before though I grew up in Hungary, and desert afterwards was also a new experience I did not know it existed. The poppy seed bread with vanilla cream was amazing! As a Hungarian dish around Christmas I was growing up with it though I never thought it could be so good as it was. I must raise my hat to the manager of this place for doing a great job here. Besides the rich history of this place traditions have been kept up more than one would imagine. Congratulations.

I’m so glad we stumbled onto this little local restaurant on Sunset! We’d originally planned for a 14-person dinner, but it turned out to be just 4 of us — and we were delightfully surprised to learn that the owner and the food was Hungarian! (None of us had ever had Hungarian food before.) The service was great, the drinks were very inexpensive (where else can you get ANY Casa Migos tequila drinks for $10?), and the food was incredible. We highly recommend the confit duck, the Sunset Thunder, and the Hungarian Enchilada. Plus, it’s a cute little spot, tucked out of the way of the busy street, and the owner likes Motown music. When I visit LA again, I’m going back!

This place confuses me.

Online, it appeared this place was indoors, but discovered quickly it was outdoors. They do have heat laps, which is great, and throw blankets on some chairs, which I find completely unsanitary.

There are two different menus. One says Hungarian and the other is a regular menu. Upon sitting down, we were only given the Hungarian menu and had to ask for the other. After taking a reasonable amount of time looking at the menu, a man (who I’m assuming is the owner or manager) came over to us and proceeded to explain the entire menu and show us pictures. While we were grateful for the explanation, it goes to show that they’re aware their menu is confusing and needs some elaboration. It was also a tad uncomfortable.

We ordered the goulash, a pasta dish and the Giant Schnitzel. The giant schnitzel is exactly that, giant. It is DELICIOUS—however, it would be fantastic with a sauce. I ordered fries with it instead of potatoes and the fries were completely cold. The cucumber salad was surprisingly delicious, but not what I was expecting. The goulash was average at best and the pasta dish had fantastic sauce, but we added chicken. One thing to note is that there is zero seasoning on anything (fries, chicken, schnitzel).

This place has loads of potential to be great if it really invested in ONE proper menu and an identity. When the owner/manager was explaining the menu, the first thing he said about the Hungarian was to ignore the fact that it said it was Hungarian, which was even more confusing. The food has potential, but could use...

Came here mid afternoon. Walked into an empty restaurant and saw a sign to go up the stairs. We went up where we told that we shouldn't be up there and the sign shouldn't be there. We went back down, and still have not seen a single employee. It was so confusing. We tried going to the outdoor seating area where someone spotted us and showed us the kiosk indoors where we order (never saw this employee again). Did that and went to sit outside. After about half an hour and not having the appetizer out (note we were the only patrons at the time), I went back in to check on our food because no one had been checking in with us or walking around the outdoor seating area for some time. Our food came out soon after. I had to ask for napkins and silverware!! Silverware was only forks, no knives. The entree salad was small (had a much better and bigger portion at Universal Hollywood), the rest of the food was fine but nothing unique. The really excellent dish was the corn ribs.

It was an odd experience. Like we were an inconvenience to have come in and wanting to order food. At some point while we were outside I did see employees sitting indoors (no one was there when we initially came in), but they were just hanging out. No one checked in on us after our food came out, not even for water refills. You add a tip when you order at the kiosk, so it seems like after that no one is interested in making sure customers have what they need or are having a...
