El Paladar Oaxaqueno Taco Truck — Restaurant in Los Angeles

I really wanted to leave a good review, because I had enjoyed food from this truck a couple years ago. However last night me, my fiancé and my sister all stopped by to unfortunate results. While my fiancée only got Barbacoa, my sister and I both got a Carnitas tostada in addition to one Barbacoa taco. While my fiancé was fine, both my sister and I experienced very bad intestinal problems all through the night.

I was racking my brain because I had felt fine all day, until our visit to the taco truck as our last meal of the day. I was waiting till this morning to check in with my sister because I realized that we were the only ones who got the Carnitas (and in a larger quantity given that it was a tostada.)

While we both have typically strong stomachs and very rarely experience gastrointestinal distress, we both had very uncomfortable, constantly interrupted nights, and there is nothing else that only the two of us ate during the course of the day.

The meat had an interesting twang to it that I chalked up to seasoning, but now I’m fairly certain something was a little off and...

These people are crooks. The menu says that a tlayuda is $10 "and up" and that quesillo costs an extra $2. Imagine my surprise when my tlayuda de barbacoa was $14.50. You pay an extra $1 for using a card. Ok fine. But they also go ahead and charge you for quesillo even if you don't ask for it. And then they charge an extra dollar for barbacoa, even though the menu also doesn't indicate that that costs extra.

Edit: their reply claims that this was an honest mistake, but when I asked the cashier why I was charged for things I didn't ask for, she said, "Well, most people want quesillo, so we just add it automatically." And does the menu indicate anywhere which meats are extra, and how much?...

Hard-working family business who serve their great quality and tasty food at very reasonable prices. We have enjoyed having them around for 15 years! They have slowly but steadily improved their truck and equipment. Highly recommended! This family is always kind, we love their veggie quesillo tacos, the veggie quesillo burritos with black beans, and I always allow myself one delicious taco al pastor. To counter some comments here, they are not selling shrimp! And only one person handles the money while the rest work the food, obviously!
