Started completely devoted and enjoyed several dozen pints of various flavors. On Monday I ordered four pints for a party. The mint chip with Oreo was the troublemaker. It appears that the glass mason jar they serve their pints in was delaminating, and there were dozens if not 100 tiny fragments of glass play sing the ice cream breaking up like a car windshield inside and the ice cream was completely laced with fragments of glass. I immediately called them to let them know and the gentleman I spoke to was very apologetic, and offered to replace my ice cream and I said I would come in the next day. Of course I threw all four pints away just out of a concern of safety. But upon my arrival they had no knowledge of my call, did not have the ice cream set aside and basically the girl in charge said there's nothing they can do because she had no knowledge of the incident. So I walked out empty-handed and realized I need to find a different ice cream place because we have a child in the house and I can't have that kind of a safety risk. But the thing of it was the guy I spoke to acknowledge that they've had this happen before and that to me is the truly frightening part. So as good as it was, I won't risk safety. Therefore I...
Read moreI used to come in here just for the brownies. They're a bit pricey, but they're large and thick, so it's worth it. Now, I come in for the ice cream. The "best bang for your buck" is 2 scoops, 4 flavors or 4 flavors, 2 scoops...you're basically getting 4 flavors for the price of 2 scoops. With 15% tip on the digital machine, my total was under 15 dollars. The people that work there are cool, the vibe is good, lots of cool yellow vintage style reclined chairs, even a wall with a map of CA showing where they source their ingredients (you can take a selfie with it), good music, both indoor and outdoor seating. SO MANY flavors...kind of like the famous ice cream chain, although I imagine these guys are A LOT fresher. I've never bothered to do DD delivery. DD Delivery: Roughly 17 dollar pints, each one is a single flavor. Ownership should really consider offering half pints at a lower price point. Also, they don't have brownies on their DD menu. Just walk in. Parking might be tricky. You can multitask...if you can't find parking, park at the Beverly Connection Budget Mall across the street...IN THE STRUCTURE, not outside. Then you can hit Ginger's Divine AND get in some value shopping...
Read moreTheir vegan flavors blew me away!
Thank goodness you can try up to 4 flavors before deciding because it was challenging to narrow it down. I sampled the Burnt Sugar Lavender (delicate taste), Vegan Miso Cookie Dough (lighter flavor than I expected), Chocolate Covered Strawberry (fantastic, authentic taste), and Matcha Mint Chip. I ordered a scoop of the latter because it was bursting with flavor.
Flavors are labeled with allergens like gluten, coconut, or soy when used. They serve vegan ice cream sandwiches and pints in the freezer.
The toppings weren't labeled as plant-based or not. The staff mentioned that the cones aren't vegan.
The prices are on the high side for ice cream but comparable to other gourmet options in town like Salt & Straw. A kid scoop is $5.25 and a single scoop is $6.25. You get more bang for your buck with the latter as it's about double the size.
Parking can be challenging in this busy area due to many restaurants. But, if you're patient you can find a meter on 3rd street. Otherwise, there are a few lots to...
