I am giving this hotel a 2 star for several reasons. Anything else I can manage and overlook; the lack of ambiance at the restaurant, the limited menu, the bland food, not being informed about the parking options, no soap or hand towels in our room at check in. What I will not tolerate is the demeaning, condescending and just rude treatment by manager Skylar G. I checked in online as usual. Soon after, my bank reported a charge from the hotel. When I went to the desk to inquire later this evening. The staff said she was unsure and asked the manager to explain. He stated that it's "standard Hyatt policy to charge for the entire stay and to include a $200 incidental charge". I explained while I understand about the incidental hold which some hotels charge. It's typically a hold not a charge, it's not included in the hotel stay charge and we're informed when checking in. In addition, I have NEVER been charged for the entire stay upon check in. First, he stated it's Hyatt's policy. After I explained, just last week we stayed at the Monterey location for 5 nights, we were not charged an incidental charge nor were we charged the entire stay at check in. He continued to take a very firm tone with me and his tone continued to accelerate. He insisted I was charged in this manner at my last stay and he can show me. So the bank notified me of a $650 charge for this hotel but not a $1500 charge last week nor did it not show up on my statement until after check out. When he didn't nor couldn't show me how they charged my last stay. He then said it's the "hotel industry" policy. I explained I have traveled extensively for the last 30 years personally and for business. I spend 80% of my work week in hotels and this has never happened. He then told me he has traveled for 20 years and worked 10 years in the hotel industry and that's how it's always been done. He insisted that's the industry and there is nothing he can do. I didn't ask him to do anything, I just wanted a reasonable explanation and the one he gave did not suffice. There was no reason for the manner and tone in which he took me and my husband standing there. I mentioned I will be calling corporate and he said "call corporate, they will tell you the same thing". Being charged the entire stay happens if you book through Priceline or Travelocity not directly with the hotel. It's not what you say Skylar but how you say things and how you treat your customers. I own a business and I would never talk to my customers and treat them in the manner in which he did to me and my husband. I let it go and moved on only because we were there for my husband's conference and didn't want to bring unnecessary attention to him. I will also be writing a letter to corporate and calling them tomorrow. I don't like leaving bad reviews, however, I think this one is very necessary.
The staff at the restaurant was very nice and accommodating. The person who brought robes to the room and apologized for no soap and towels were also courteous. That's how staff at a hotel should behave, not in the manner that Skylar did, trying to prove that he was right, when clearly that's not the standard at all hotels in the industry. I can't help but wonder, did we get charged and/or charged this way because it's a "Black" event. It's a professional conference for those in the higher education field. Don't want to play the race card however, I don't have any other explanation for the harsh treatment and the charge for the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreHyatt Regency LAX did a good job for us. We had a two-night stay here, breaking up a cross-country train ride from NYC to LA and an upcoming international flight from LAX (to Tokyo). We got what we wanted at the Hyatt, which was a chance to rest and recharge in a comfortable space by the airport before having to dive back into the bustle of travel.
For us, the courtesy and supportiveness of the staff is always the most significant component of whether we feel we had an overall good experience. At this hotel, the staff set the positive tone for our stay. Helpful, friendly, and effective at doing their jobs.
One particular staff highlight was when the concierge, upon learning our upcoming flight was international and that we were planning to walk to the airport, suggested we take the complimentary shuttle from the hotel, because, while one could walk to the airport in minutes from the Hyatt, it would actually take closer to an hour to walk to the international departure terminal. Without her input, we wouldnāt have been aware of this and would have caused ourselves unnecessary stress.
The hotel itself, our room included, was functionally elegant and comfortable. While the furniture in our room showed some wear and tear, everything was definitely very clean. Our bed was excellent, and so was our bathroom (shower, lighting, ventilation).
I was surprised at how quiet it was (referring to infrastructural soundproofing, although the human activity inside the hotel was subdued too) both in our room and in the main areas of the hotel. We could see the airport from our window and see the planes taxiing, but we couldnāt hear any of the airport activity or the traffic from Sepulveda Boulevard.
We were overall pleased and grateful that the Hyatt was such a positive part of our trip.
I want to point out a few relatively minor cons. The worn, stained furniture and carpet in our room were a bit off-putting. Again, I want to stress that they were clean. Their condition wasnāt as much an issue for us as the fact that the price of our room was high enough, in our opinion, to expect higher quality than this. This wasnāt a roadside motel, after all. Also, the swimming pool and the poolside lounging chairs could use some upkeep: when we had a look at it, it wasnāt clear if the pool filtration was activated, and the chairsā cushions were damp and dirty; also, access to the pool from the lobby was a bit obscure and could be more clearly marked.
The other issue we had was the in-hotel convenience store and restaurant. We felt the convenience store had sparse offerings. Both the convenience store and the restaurant were grossly overpriced, so we didnāt get anything at either one. Instead, we walked the short distance to the downtown part of the Westchester neighborhood where there were some great, affordable restaurants as well as grocery stores (like Ralphās) and a Target. These overpriced amenities are an area where Hyatt could definitely improve its service to provide a more well-rounded experience for its guests.
All in all, we enjoyed our stay here. Weād definitely stay here again, and we recommend this Hyatt as a convenient and relaxing place to recharge for anyone but the most...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI stayed here on 30/09/2024 I arrived in late and had pre booked a king room with a high level on booking.com. When I arrived, the girl at the desk confirmed my booking and I checked in to the room. I was not given a king room with a high floor, I was given a queen room on level 6. I went back downstairs to complain in which the girl said she will adjust the room price to the price of a queen room. There was no apology at all for putting me in the wrong room and charging me for a king room as apposed to a queen which is what they put me in! I went back into the room to find it not clean, white stains on the couch, the shower had mould in the corners and hair and the bathroom was not clean. I went back downstairs again and asked to change rooms in which I did. I walked into the room and the shower tap would not turn on and the air conditioning was making a rattling sound so loud I could not have it on. After getting a technician out and calling the desk to complain again, it was now over an hour since I had checked in at 12am. I was offered free breakfast for the inconvenience and also late check out fee waived. When I checked out, I asked to go through the bill and they had all the charges still on the bill. I asked the girl to adjust it in which the bill total was still not showing the correct amount. I asked her to adjust it and again, there were charges on the bill that werenāt supposed to be there. I asked her to adjust it for the 3rd time in which it looked to be right. I took the shuttle bus to the airport that was marked as free and the guy cornered me for a tip in which I did not have any American cash on me given I was only there for 1 night! He pressured me when I said I had no cash and I felt forced to give him an Australian note I had just to make him go away. I was the only one on the bus and had not had that experience on the way in. After arriving back in Australia I see an extra charge on my account of $143.00! I had to call them internationally to enquire about this extra charge in which I was told it was for the breakfast and late checkout in which I was told would be complimentary. I was initially told there were no ā notesā about it on their system. When I asked why I was also given the wrong room from what I paid for they told me it was showing as a king room on their system. After about 20 minutes on the phone I finally had the charges re adjusted to reflect what was discussed on the night I checked in. Not once did I receive an apology in person after having to come down to reception twice after a very long day of flying. The reception staff were rude and did not seem to care for the inconveniences. I would not recommend staying at this hotel as they seem to be very dodgy when charging room fees etc. My room also had drilling noises which was not exactly the most convenient thing when you are staying at a hotel. The reception was full of construction as well which was not mentioned at all upon booking. Itās definitely more of a 2 star hotel. I do not expect this after paying more than $300 a night. Do not...
