I placed a curbside pick up at this location, I have always been happy that they never failed me before, they usually bring my order out to my car promptly and the parking space were the pick up is supposed to happen is always available, today it was a disaster, I got there and the spot for pick up was not available because dine in guests had parked in that space, the phone was busy, and I couldn’t communicate through the app where I had parked, I decided to go inside because I was not sure how long I would wait outside in a parking spot where they might not see me and not being able to say where I had parked. Once inside a lady that is Latin( I think her name is Lily) but seems to not like Hispanic people asked me if I was there to pick up I said yes, she just continued walking around and went to help other guests, I could see my order sitting on the counter, a gentleman that is always nice had come up to ring up customers, checked with me if I was picking up, I said yes he finish ringing the customers and grabbed my order, I mentioned to him that there were no available curbside pick up spaces due to dine in customers parking in them, I don’t think he understood and mention that they only bring the food outside on the weekends, I don’t like to dine in during the week because of the waitress that I mentioned above she makes sure to make Hispanic people feel like they don’t belong there but when it comes to other customers that are non Hispanic she goes out of her way to accommodate them, I hope more people are scheduled to help the other gentlemen that was running all over the place and please make sure to enforce with customers not to park on the pick up spaces when there are plenty of empty parking spots were they can park, lastly please be kind to people that work for Grubhub, this is one of the main reasons it seems I was not being helped because they thought I was working for...
Read moremy friend and I were jonesing for some late-night diner food, and we were too far from any of the other spots. it was very late, and we knew that this place was 24 hours. the 24-hour designation was apparent in Google maps and on the building itself. we walked up to the IHOP, which was empty but fully-lit. the door opened, and we were greeted by absolute stillness. it was eerie and unwelcoming. my friend walked towards the kitchen, and peered over the surface where food items are placed to be taken to people's tables. he saw somebody and asked if somebody could help us. the reply was aggressive, almost fearful, and the message was that they were closed. so we left, but we warned whoever it was that could hear us that we might be back at anytime as long as the door was unlocked and the sign said 24 hours. we decided to go to the Van nuys Western bagel instead. that place is happy to serve a hungry wayward traveler. we enjoyed our bagels, and then went back to that IHOP to see if they were still "closed." it was 3 a.m., and this time the whole place was full of shouting excited voices, and groups of late-night revellers were seated at tables. we felt like we had been left out of an exclusive club. what did it mean, why is it that for the window of time when we had initially arrived, the prospect of pancakes was but a deception? IHOP is a force beyond the reckoning of 2 young men with nothing more than an appetite to lead us away from our sleepy...
Read moreThis is one of the earliest IHOP restaurants built in Los Angeles. Unfortunately, its size and kitchen hasn't grown to match its customers served. Expect a longer wait time for your food, if you can't wait there's a McDonald's across the street. Obviously the clientele IHOP expects to serve also includes those from the lower rungs of society, hence the need for pictures on their menu and non-fluent English speakers as part of their staff to accommodate the aforementioned clientele. If you can only afford to eat at IHOP, quit your belly-aching about the food quality or service, it's IHOP not a five star restaurant.
Now a few dirty secrets about this IHOP despite its "A" grade health rating.
The seats are only ever cleaned before annual inspection, so your sitting on a year's worth of nasty @$$ crust, so get comfy. Haha.
Since the building's floor has sunken in over the years, water and food detritus from bad plumbing pools in the kitchen floor, just inches below where they store cleaned drinking glasses. Hope you're thirsty.
Don't order the milkshakes. Just don't.
Still, knowing all this, I give this IHOP a five stars because I enjoy watching people spend their money to eat at this-...
