A cornerstone of the San Pedro community, J.Trani's is more than just a restaurant. It's a timeless institution that has been a local favorite for generations, and a place that has woven itself into the fabric of my own personal story.
Over the years, I've had the pleasure of marking countless milestones and celebrations within its brick walls. The memories I've created here, surrounded by family and friends, are as vivid and cherished as the flavors that have graced our table each time.
But J.Trani's isn't just about nostalgia. This restaurant has managed to keep its appeal over the years thanks to Chef Dustin's imaginative culinary approach. His New World Italian menu is a delightful twist on classic Italian cuisine, successfully infusing fresh and modern elements without losing the essence of traditional recipes. A standout is the Peruvian scallops - a dish that exemplifies Chef Dustin's talent for innovating while maintaining deep respect for the ingredients' origins.
Yet, what makes J.Trani's truly special is its seamless blend of this culinary innovation with the comforting charm of old-world service. The warmth and attentiveness of the staff amplify the dining experience, echoing the same hospitality that has endeared J.Trani's to generations of patrons.
In an era where dining trends come and go, J.Trani's stands as a testament to the enduring appeal of great food served with genuine care. It's a place where past and present harmonize beautifully, creating an environment that feels both familiar and excitingly new.
Whether you're a longtime local or a first-time visitor, a meal at J.Trani's is more than just a dining experience—it's a journey through time, flavor, and community. For its commitment to culinary innovation, respect for tradition, and an environment that feels like home, J.Trani's fully deserves a five-star rating. I, for one, am eagerly looking forward to the next chapter of celebrations and culinary adventures at this...
Read moreWe were so looking forward to dining here. We have hearsay fantastic reviews, but unfortunately J.Tranis’s didn’t live up to the hype. I don’t get how an Italian restaurant serves Asian inspired preparation of dishes? Menu was quite limited, and I wasn’t really exited about much on the menu. It was Friday the 25th of Feb. and we were celebrating a birthday. The place was packed, we had reservations, yet were made to wait in the drafty waiting hall, while our table was set and ready??.? Once seated we ordered drinks. Appetizers and dinner were ordered at the same time. It was over an hour before we received the 2 appetizers. The waitress came by and apologized for the wait, but pretty lame . Once finished w/ appetizers, it took another hour to get meals. We had to ask for water, 3 times I asked for cheese and Chili’s for the pizza , didn’t get until the last 1/2 piece of pizza remaining. Finally the meals arrived. Fish dishes were very good, pastas not so much. The seafood pasta had zero shellfish, it only had salmon, a white fish and a couple shrimp. Sauce was heavy, not one of the better preparations. The Black Truffle Carbonara was overpowered by truffle, so not like any carbonara we have ever had, and we’ve had many in Italy. The breads were ok, the crusty variety was fine, but I don’t get jalapeño cheese bread in an Italian restaurant. As mentioned, it was a chilly evening and the door was open so servers could serve the outside customers. Unfortunately the wind blew straight to our table. Asked if it could be partially closed, was told had to be kept open for serving? So then don’t seat people in direct line of chill. Overall an o.k. Dinner, but close to $300 later, I would of maybe appreciated and offer of a complimentary drink or something to to soften the long, long, long wait we experienced . Hope they figure out menu, and staffing, and the concept of goodwill. Waiting for over two hours for a meal is...
Read moreCame for the first time with my book club in December and everything was delicious. The bread was hot and fresh, and our server was very attentive. I decided to bring my husband back for a nice dinner over the weekend, and the experience was completely different and not in a good way. We had reservations, but instead of having a table reserved for us, we were left waiting in the lobby for a good 20 minutes to a half hour before finally being seated. Our server took quite a while to acknowledge us because she was very clearly overseated and overwhelmed, and by the time she came back to get our drink orders, we had had enough time to lookout the menu and decide what to eat. After we ordered, I expected that wonderful bread to appear, and when it didnt, I asked if it was still being served, and was assured it would be out soon. I had to ask two more times, and we were more than halfway through our meal before it was brought to our table. We were sorely disappointed, however, to discover that it was dry and stale, and had clearly been cooked hours or even days before and kept in a dry oven before serving. It begs the question why it took so long to arrive at the table, as its obvious they weren't serving it fresh from the oven. Although the restaurant looks pretty inside, it is far too loud to be considered for an intimate "fancy" dinner setting where good conversation can be had. I can also sympathize with restaurants being short-staffed, but Saturday nights are not the night to schedule a skeleton crew. This restaurant was recommended to our group by a friend, and what was once a fun and nice evening out has turned sour over the past few months. We likely...
