We decided to come to this location because they open earlier, but deeply regretted this decision. This location is simply not as good as the original. Or maybe standards just went down overall. Food: Kimchi tastes store bought, it’s not the fresh umami taste that is what I’ve always loved. The pork soup isn’t as flavorful as what it should be. Boiled pork tasted good, but the quantity is wayyyy less than photos/what we experienced at the original store when we last visited LA. It’s probably like only half the number of slices. Service: When asked if the boiled pork came with a serving of soup, server told us just a little bit of soup, but in the end it came with a whole full size soup (just without pork meat inside). Because of that we ended up with 3 huge bowls of soup between 2 people that there’s no way we could finish, and the soup wasn’t even that good (see “food” section above).
Overall it was just a far cry from what we originally knew and loved about Jinsol Gukbap. Would not recommend. Go to the one at the original location if...
Read moreI have heard good things but never made it to the original spot on 3rd street or this 2nd location on 8th. TWO THUMBS UP and definitely coming here again to try everything else on their menu.
It was a dinner of 4 and we ordered the kimchi jeongol with pork belly (no intestines was available so they gave us extra pork), the spicy pork ribs, and 2 leek/chive pancakes and had satisfactory dinner for 4. We all liked the fresh banchans (kimchi, pickled cabbage, spicy pickled peppers, kkadugi/radish, fresh onions and peppers slices with ssamjang, and the fish cakes)
The service was fast, reliable and good. And we liked the atmosphere. They picked the right decor to look open and clean.
The price was so reasonable spending about $30 per person including tip and tax! We are definitely coming back for the cold noodles (the korean BBQ meat and noodle combo seems great), the jjimdak (chicken dish probably good for at least 2 people), the spicy jockbal (spicy pork knuckles).
started to take pictures and got too hungry and forgot...
Read moreA terrrific restaurant with 9's across all boards. The only reason it isn't a 10 was because we could catch the attention of any servers to get the bill. But the shop was busy, so maybe that's a good thing.
All the 반찬 dishes reminded me of the places I went to in Korea. They tasted comforting, familiar, and homemade. I went with a friend who is living in Mexico and hasn't had official Korean food in over a year. By the time we were finished with our soups at 진솔, I could tell she was okay with only having checked out this one place in her entire 5 days in LA.
Anyway, food 10/10. Interior is gorgeous too, 10/10. The only thing that didn't align with the bar already set so high by the former two things is the inattentiveness of the servers, but that's a small fix. My friend was particularly thrilled about the 다대기 paste, but who can blame her? That stuff...
