We've only had lunch here twice and I was impressed with most of what I sampled, yet both times was somewhat disappointed with my entree.
The first time I ordered the pansit bihon. The only other pansit bihon I've had was in the Philippines (specifically, at the Graceland Resort in Tayabas, which has a fabulous restaurant), and it was quite different. Then again, pansit is a very personal thing for Filipinos and varies widely. My second visit I ordered the beef machado, having previously sampled it. The first time I tried it I loved it: fantastic seasonings, a lively, robust flavor and the meat was perfect: slightly but adequately marbled. My sister had ordered it that time, and I ate half of her order. However, when I ordered it as my entree the second time it came somewhat dry, without the marbling I'd previously experienced. I asked the owner and he said that he uses sirloin for the machado (which is essentially potroast). Sirloin is very lean, so I believe him. The first time I tried it I could have sworn it was london broil, because of the slight but much needed layer of fat on one end. Maybe they should consider using london broil instead: they'd certainly save some money.
Everything else was magically delicious and had nothing to do with breakfast cereals. The lechon was fantastic, the sinigang was marvelous, as were the other items that I can't quite recall.
One strong recommendation I'll make is to not stuff yourself: you WILL want to sample the desserts, which all look fabulous. We had the chocolate cheesecake and nearly...
Read moreWe came here around 11ish for lunch excited and hungry. Seeing some 5 star reviews I was looking forward to dine here for the first time. There were only 2 tables occupied, so it is not busy. Unfortunately it was nọt satisfying as we expected :(
PARKING - DO NOT PARK BEHIND THE STRUCTURE OR YOU’LL RISK GETTING YOUR CAR TOWED. Street Parking is the only way as told by the server.
AMBIENCE - Classic look, felt like the place isn’t well ventilated since I came out smelling like I came from the kitchen and all that smokey “usok” smell.
CHICKEN INASAL - is SO BLAND, not BBQ Style at all as the menu said! It was more like steamed chicken drizzled with orange sauce or gravy as what they called. It is so odd to be called BBQ or Inasal. I don’t know what version of Inasal this is but it’s no way BBQ.
PANCIT PALABOK - is SO BLAND as well! I can’t even taste the flavor of palabok, it was like eating noodles with flavorless sauce.
SISIG was the most edible dish. Atleast we had something decent. I’ve had better sisig but this is not bad.
I don’t know what happened in the kitchen but the dishes were bland, not seasoned, chicken os not marinated meat has 0 flavor, and overall disappointing.
Calamansi juice for $6.99 tasted like a powdered mix juice.
Overall, the food is pricey. We paid around $70 for bland meals we didn’t fully enjoy. Pricey meal but not worth it.
Not interested in going back to taste the rest of the menu. Didn’t even care to take a phot and post on Social Media. It...
Read moreI’m sitting here, in the restaurant, writing this review because the service really is that slow. I walked in and sat down and no one has even so much has even asked me what I’d like to drink or even handed me a menu. Honestly, my experience at this restaurant has never been good. I just come here because I live around the block and I crave decent Filipino sometimes. My favorite moment is the time I walked in, and after really bad service the whole night, one of the servers or maybe the owner asks me if I’m Filipino, and when I said yes he says, “ohhh, I thought you were Mexican” and then proceeded to be just a little bit nicer. Another time they served me the wrong type of rice, and instead of comping it on my check, they proceeded to charge me EVEN more with an additional charge for garlic rice. It’s been 10 minutes since I started writing this review and still no one has come by my table to serve me. I finally just stood up and got their attention. They act shocked, but this happens every time I come here. Also, don’t come here on a hot day. There’s no AC in the back room.
In summery, food is outrageously overpriced for what it is, and not worth the terrible service. You might as well just go to Max’s chicken or some other chain.
I’m not even gonna wait to leave the restaurant to post this review. We’ll see if they’re decent enough to confront me about it and apologize, or they just scoff and...
