A peaceful respite situated within the concrete jungles of Los Angeles.
Whenever I go for follow-up's at the Kaiser Permanente Bone Marrow Transplant Unit across the street, I often visit the Self Realization Fellowship Temple to enjoy the scenery & gather my thoughts. I sit, quietly listening to the falling water in the ponds, watching the Koi swim peacefully, taking in the lush vegetation all around me.
Paramahansa Yogananda originated the Self-Realization Fellowship Prayer Council & the Worldwide Prayer Circle for the benefit of prayer/intercession & healing energy through deep meditation. The basic principles are applicable by anyone, regardless of religious affiliation.
The plethora of cars cruising down Sunset seem to magically disappear when I enter the quaint & sacred premises of the Self Realization Temple. I can have a hot coffee & just be still, which is something we all need more of in our lives. It's so nice to have a place like this, away from the hustle & bustle.
I plan to visit the Lake ShrineTemple in Pacific Palisades in the future, which is much larger w/ a large lake and some of the ashes of Gandhi are held there, because Gandhi was a close friend of Yogananda.
