As much as I love to support new independent businesses, especially from POC, mistreatment of workers is a big NO NO from me regardless of where you’re from.
Sat inside to try for the first time and ended up hearing the owner berate and talk down to his barista, who seemed to be fairly new from listening to the conversation. The barista didn’t seem incompetent so to be talked to as if she was, made it all the more questionable. This is clearly someone who doesn’t know how to manage staff or how to talk to fellow employees. Whether it’s family or strangers you don’t talk to them like they’re dumb. Especially not front of house at the counter. I felt bad for the barista and hope she ends up in a better place. Regardless, widely uncomfortable.
Since most local hipsters will care less and just want to be trendy and go anyway, the coffee was good. The tea cakes were alright. Furniture while whimsical are left a little too unfinished. Watch the edges. They didn’t bother to sand them down so be careful of splinters.
Also a no cash establishment? What kind of trash is that? Way to marginalize the majority of the lower income neighborhood.
Wish I could try the rest but I’ve no interest now. Coffee shops are sprouting like weeds these days so there’s always a...

Nam Coffee (est 2024) is a brand new lil coffee shop on Fountain ave in East Hollywood. They offer primarily Vietnamese style coffee and pastries. This cute compact coffee shop is owned by Vince Nguyen; his coffee story is quite interesting (see website).
Amongst the coffee shop in the area, their interior design juts out like a lotus flower. Atmosphere was relaxing and has copious natural light. They have a modest selection of teas, coffee, and pastries. I came to grab a hot Vietnamese coffee; it was great. I was greeted by a young, polite and competent female staff. Pricing seems fair.
Moreover, seating can be limited both indoor and outdoor. Parking is free but can be challenging in that area. Free wifi. No Cash accepted!! That’s a Debbie downer for real.
Overall, I had a good experience and enjoyed their hot coffee. I...

Stopped by this shop by chance and it was truly a worthwhile experience. From the outside in, the space has a unique vibe, a perfect blend of modern style and traditional Vietnamese accents.
I ordered the Signature Vietnamese Coffee and the Saigon Latte The iced coffee was rich and robust, with the slight bitterness of the drip-brewed coffee blending perfectly with the sweet creaminess of the condensed milk – creating a familiar and unforgettable flavor. The white coffee was fragrant, creamy, and milder, perfect for those who prefer a lighter taste. This is more than just a place to get coffee; it's a spot that evokes nostalgia for Vietnamese people far from home and offers an incredible cultural experience for international friends. Definitely worth...
