Wife and I went to this place when we were in Westwood recently. We wanted to go to the Lusk Center, but it was the day after the Superb...errr, the Big Game, and it was closed. The woman who answered the phone told us it was closed and recommended a couple of nearby places for breakfast. Kudos to her. We chose this one cause it was close. When we arrived, there were few patrons. The waiter said to pick any seat so we sat outside. The wife had the 'two eggs any style' early bird special and I went with my standard, French toast. We also had coffee. Coffee was good. We would have had more, but we had to go. The two eggs were quite good, claims the wife. Came with toast and roasted potatoes, a LOT of potatoes. The wife was VERY satisfied. Eggs came like she wanted, toast was good and potatoes were good. She would come here again. My French toast, 3 pcs., came with bananas and sliced strawberries. Now I am one who rarely eats fruit like this, when there is French toast that will soon be covered in Maple something soon. However, the banana and strawberries looked good so I thought I would try them. I am glad I did! Contrary to my nature, I ate ALL the fruit. It was good. Once the fruit was out of the way, I got down to business. Put some of the maple stuff on the toast and some butter. The first mouthful confirmed it. I WILL be coming back. The toast had some sort of spice in the mix that I could not quite identify but which really made it special.

Bottom line: We enjoyed our stop at the Lazy Daisy.

The only reason I gave them 4 stars was that the service was a little slow. Whether it was the waiter, the cook or just an act of God, I do not know. There were a lot more customers when we left than when we came in. The food did make up for this shortcoming,...

Love their outdoor seating area, with shades & also big plants around the cafe. Total privacy even when people walking by on the sidewalk.

The Service: Efrain & Danny were taking care our table. They were so attentive & thoughtful. Every time when Efrain passed by our table, he would pay attention to what we needed (e.g. napkins, drinks refilled, etc). He would take care of it before we even asked! He was like a mind-reader~ Unbelievable! Also, Danny is super-efficient. The moment we finished the last bite, the dirty plate was taken away right away. Their observation & efficiency are absolutely 5 Stars!

The Food: This place is very popular with their breakfast/brunch menu. But today we wanted to try their lunch menu.

Vegetali linguine- vegetable sautéed in olive oil & parmesan cheese in marinara sauce. 2 pieces of bread on the side. Huge portion, perfect to share.

Balanced Plate - grilled salmon steak top with bruschetta sauce, assorted steamed vegetables, asparagus and Spanish rice. OMG! the salmon was prepared to perfection. Lots of vegetables. The Spanish rice is so flavorful! Very healthy choice!

Calamari - this is always one of my favorite appetizers so got to try theirs. I love how they use big pieces of calamari and lightly battered. So each bite, I could taste the squid and not just big chuck of batter.

The Parking: Broxton Ave Parking (1036 Broxton Ave), first two hours FREE (7am-5pm)!! It is only a few minutes' walk to the restaurant. There is street metered parking but sometimes it could be challenging to...

we went here on a thursday morning for breakfast. what we had:

pancakes with scrambled eggs and crispy bacon - pancakes were flavorful and big; the scrambled eggs were really good and i have to mention that most scrambled eggs nowadays taste like grease because maybe they cook it on the same grill pan as everything else or it's too buttery, but not this one - their eggs taste like eggs and very well-seasoned. i really appreciate that. the bacon came out crispy, just like we requested.

waffles with sunny side up eggs and bacon - i think this might be one of the better waffles ive had. the waffle was crispy on the top and full and bread-y inside (not airy like most waffles come).

side of pork sausages - not really sure what kind of sauge these are but they werent good. tasted like potted meat.

coffee and orange juice - the orange juice was freshly squeezed. the coffee was cold even the...
