Tried coming here a couple of weeks ago with a group of friends to celebrate a birthday, and the experience was incredibly disappointing. We were a group of 15 and arrived early, waiting in line like everyone else. The line was moving quickly, so we didn’t anticipate any issues. However, after about half of our group got in, the bouncer abruptly and rudely told the rest of us that no one else would be allowed in for the rest of the night and that we should just go home. He even said we’d be wasting our time if we tried waiting. I politely asked if there was any chance the rest of our group could join to celebrate the birthday, and his response was unnecessarily defensive and condescending—he went on a complete power trip and made it clear there was zero chance of accommodating us. If this is the kind of attitude the venue allows at the door, I have no interest in ever coming back. We were ready to celebrate, stay for a while, and have a good time, but instead, we were treated with complete disrespect. Once those inside heard what happened, they came back out, and we all left together. It’s a shame—this place came highly recommended, but the unprofessional and arrogant behavior of the bouncer completely ruined the night. Definitely not worth the...
Read moreLittle Joy is the official sponsor of World Dodgeball Society's Echo Park league on Tuesdays. Therefore, you'll find me usually hanging here Tuesday evenings with the rest of the adults wearing knee pads draping over their ankles, dried sweat and workout clothes. If you see us, you know where we just came from - two amazing hours of friendly dodgeball competition play!
What I love most about this bar is the ONE pool table they have for FREE play. When I don't feel I've received enough competition during dodgeball, I sign up for some billiards. Some great players play here often so it's a good switch of games for some friendly fun.
Drinks are pretty cheap and they have my favorite non-alcoholic beer Paulaner for $5. Sometimes after a good workout, I just want some hydration -- not the opposite! However, I am a big fan of their Pilsner ($6) and Allagash White Ale ($6).
Parking used to be easy when the grocery store parking lot a few stores down from Little Joy was open after hours. But a few months ago they chained it off so nobody can park there now.even after the grocery store is closed for...
Read moreThis place has changed a LOT since I first discovered it. Before it was some small dive bar with just a single pool table at the end, which I actually loved! But last weekend my friend picked this place for our birthdays, at least one of the stops 😉 and it was sooo different.. music with everyone dancing.. pretty crowded but in a good way! Good vibes! Bouncer didnt believe it was my ID at first umm ok is that a compliment? Either way he wasnt a douche about it.. plus my vacc card has the same name and info..? (Side note: they're carding for vaccination! One friend couldn't get in b/c of it, no joke.) lol anyway it's a great spot. Even though it seems there are more people coming to this spot and more hipster-like.. I'd still come back....
