Nothing special about this Cafe. Small basic roadside in appearance. I ordered a cheeseburger that came with small batch of hard salty matchstick fries for $30. I was shocked. Original list price $22, which was surprisingly overpriced but went forth since I was with a group of 15. The burger was equal to Burger King fast food. I ask how my bill jumped from $22 to $30 and was told 20% tip was added on automatically. I said so I don't have any say so and was told no. Good thing I didn't order a beverage. Surprised I wasn't charged for the room temperature water (no ice). The news announced waiters salaries are now a mandatory $20 per hour so why after paying an outrageous amount for a mediocre burger am I held hostage to help pay more towards their salaries??? LA County clerks start at about $16 per hour and we, the public, don't tip them 20% for their services. This tipping mess in America needs to stop! And/or be allowed,if I choose to or not, decide the amount. I will never come back to dine at this rip off establishment. Oh by the way, on the breakfast menu 2 pieces of honey butter toast was $12.50. Go figure that. My girlfriend ordered a Ceasars salad with no croutons with a dressing that tasted like watered down mayonnaise. A bowl of lettuce and tasteless dressing for about $30. California bourgeois neighborhood vendors have gone bunkers. I don't mind paying more if I get what I pay for as delicious and enjoyable meal and be allowed to determine the tip amount. I do not...

I have been a loyal patron of Mayers Manx for over a year, and until recently, it was my go-to spot for a delicious breakfast. However, my recent experience has left me disappointed and frustrated with the restaurant's decision to discontinue my favorite breakfast options.
Mayers Manx used to offer a delightful breakfast sandwich and egg toast that kept me coming back for more. Unfortunately, they have chosen to replace these beloved items with the ubiquitous avocado toast. In a city like Los Angeles, where every corner seems to offer avocado toast, this decision feels uninspired and lacking in originality.
It's disheartening to see a unique and satisfying breakfast menu replaced with a seemingly generic choice. It makes me question the restaurant's understanding of its customers' preferences, as the breakfast sandwich and egg toast were undoubtedly popular among many patrons.
I can't help but wonder if this change was based on misguided considerations that don't align with the actual preferences of loyal customers. Mayers Manx, in my opinion, has sacrificed its distinctiveness by succumbing to a trend that doesn't necessarily reflect the desires of its clientele.
I sincerely hope that Mayers Manx reconsiders this decision and brings back the breakfast options that made it stand out in the first place. Until then, I find myself searching for a new favorite breakfast spot, disappointed that the charm of Mayers Manx seems to be...
Read moreAfter the La Brea Tar Pits, we went to a cool bistro called "Meyers Manx Cafe", located inside the Petersen Auto Museum across from the Tar Pits.
The Meyers Manx Cafe is named after the dune buggies of the late 60's, it was like being teleported to 1968.
I found two rare pics of Jimi Hendrix on the wall, one in which he's hanging upside down from the roll bar of his Meyers Manx dune buggy, and in the other he's seated with his girlfriend, smiling, smoking a doobie.
There was another MM pic with Michael Lang, founder and promoter of the original 1969 Woodstock concert. Of course, I told the waitress the history of these rare pics. Ones I'd never seen before.
The food was excellent. Fish tacos were great. I had the chicken sandwich with homemade fries (yum!) and a beautifully prepared matche latte that was almost too pretty to drink.
Atmosphere was calming. Service was great. Food was excellent and fresh. Really enjoyed...
