My friend sent me a link of the best independent coffee shops in the WORLD. Guess who was on that list? Muddy Paw. I can't believe this little tiny shop in Silver Lake, Los Angeles, made it on a list of TOP COFFEE SHOPS!? I had to try it out. Plus, who doesn't like enjoying Silver Lake?
(For those curious, it was on Financial Times, compiled by Rosanna Dodds FEBRUARY 27 2022)
My friend and I stopped by on a Saturday afternoon. There was hardly anyone seated in the back, so we didn't have to worry about finding a table. We went back to the counter and placed our orders. I had a vanilla latte called "Puppy Love" with real vanilla extract. I didn't know at the time, but because of the vanilla extract, my latte smelled alcoholic. I was so thrown off but drank it anyway! My friend said her matcha latte was off, but we never figured that one out. Not sure I'd come back to get those two drinks, but the seating area in the back was nice and cozy. There was an area with like a campfire in the middle.
The cool thing here is part of their proceeds go toward some charity. Back in September 2023, they were donating to organizations to help Maui.

Read moreWhen you’re looking for a paw-friendly, pet-friendly and good coffee/pastry then Muddy Paw Coffee is the place to be. Muddy Paw Coffee is a small dog and hooman friendly coffee shop located along Sunset Blvd in Silver Lake neighborhood of LA. I came here to grab an Iced Cold Brew. And I was warmly greeted by a male staff.
Interior design/layout was well conceived and organized albeit very limited space. However, their outdoor patios (front/back) were spacious, relaxing and dog friendly. I ordered a regular cold brew coffee with whole milk and splenda. Cold brew coffee was very smooth and sweetened. It’s bloody perfect!
Furthermore, they have a variety of hot/cold coffee and tea drinks and empanadas. Their coffee has two sizes: a regular (12 oz) and large (16 oz) cup. Prices seem reasonable and affordable. Staff were amiable, professional and followed health protocol. Street (metered) parking only. Overall, I truly enjoyed my iced cold brew drink, their mission and their pet friendly environment. I HIGHLY recommend this cute little...
Read moreThe barista was extremely rude to me and my friend. It was about 6:30pm and we wanted a coffee on sunset and it was the only coffee shop open. We walked in, the barista was standing there with what seemed like his girlfriend. He said we’re closed but I can serve you depending on what it was. My friend asked for a simple iced coffee and I asked if I could have a mocha with oat milk. He gasped at my request for a mocha with oat milk after they closed because it wasn’t simple enough. After reluctantly making our drinks AFTER agreeing to serve us we asked if we could pay for our drinks separately, and he refused grumpily and I payed for both my and my friend, as it asked us to tip I felt very reluctant to tip him after the ride encounter. He looked at the screen and said “no tip, you guys are the definition of awful.” And swept his hand towards the door dismissing us signaling us to leave. Horrible service barista needs to go to...
